Vacation Bible School 2011

If you live in or around Searcy and have children, are neighbors of children, or know children who would love to come hear the message of salvation please invite them to Crosby Baptist Church's twenty-eleven VBS.  We will be studying the full armor of God each night with fun music, crafts, FOOD, and games.  VBS at Crosby is always fun and this year will be no different.  If you know someone who needs a ride, please feel free to leave me a comment, e-mail me, Facebook me, or if you have my phone number give me a call or text me.  We will make sure they can get back and forth.  We are looking forward to a spirit-filled week.  Please pray for us as a church that we can teach these kiddos the powerful message of God and that the Lord will be the center of it each night for the Bible says where two or more are gathered in my name, there I will be also.

Boys...

It's just in their DNA...to play with cars, leave an empty toilet paper roll in the holder, and leave the seat up!  Don't worry, the car is tucked safely into his car holder, the toilet paper has been refilled, and the seat is down (and wiped off).  The work of a mother is never complete.  But, this is job security and I love every minute of it.  So, what have YOU done today?

Click here to see the video from my Thursday, June 30th television appearance on KARZ channel 42's Arkansas Matters.
I forgot to set the DVR and didn't realize that it was live on their website for viewing! I thought I would share it with those of you non-local folks who read CrAzY Working Mom.  The list of featured products, where they are available, and all of the information about each product (along with my personal review of the items) can be found at this post.

I was fortunate enough to be able to visit with Mallory Hardin this morning alongside Kristie Smith, owner of the Searcy Rhea Lana's. The video is not yet posted on the website, but when it is I will post a link here for you to see.  Thanks so much to the crew at KARK/KARZ for having us. It is always such a pleasure to be in their company. They are a great group of people and are always so welcoming when I am at the studio. I appreciate being able to come into their world just a tiny bit and see things from their perspective. I have a high respect for those folks who work in front of a camera each and every day. I know one thing is certain. I would much rather STAND than sit during an interview. When watching myself back on today's interview, I realized that I was very slouchy looking and my hips looked like they were taking up most of the WIDE angle lens. *gag* Anyhow, it was a great pleasure to talk about the Rhea Lana's sale.

Rhea Lana's of Searcy: Back-to-School Shopping Extravaganza

If you live in or around the Searcy, Arkansas area you will be thrilled to know that the next Rhea Lana's consignment event is just right around the corner (Aug 2-6, 2011)!!!  If you've never heard of Rhea Lana's you're in for a real treat!  I will be talking with Kristie Smith, the of Rhea Lana's, Inc. about this upscale children's consignment event business tomorrow morning on KARZ Channel 42 at 7am.  Set your DVRs so you can catch it!

They hold semi-annual seasonal events each year. Shoppers come from all over Arkansas and surrounding states to purchase excellent quality children's merchandise at affordable prices.  As a shopper you get like new (and in some cases NEW with tags) items at awesome prices.  If you're in need of back to school clothes, I guarantee you will find some deals here!!  As a consigner you get to select your own prices, tag your merchandise, and bring home a check at the end of the sale for 70% of the sale of your merchandise!  Their website is very easy to navigate and there are many drop down menus to help you in selecting the description of your items.  YOU choose the price and whether or not you want your items to be half priced on the last day of the sale.

As a busy mom who is a shopper and consigner, I can tell you that it is a bit of work getting the items ready for the sale, and of course I always wait 'till the last minute (NO!  I am not finished yet...but I have started...sort of!) but in the end, after the items are dropped off and I can check my sales from my smart phone, I am thrilled that all of the hard work is paying off!!!  But, don't worry if you don't have a smart phone, you can check your sales via your computer.  You can keep track of just what you are making as the items sell!  But, picking up the check is always the best part!

If you are not a consigner yet, there's still time.  Hop over to the Rhea Lana's website and give it a look around.  The sale is located at the White County Fairgrounds (802 Davis Drive in Searcy). Here are the dates and info you'll need to be aware of:

What Faith Can Do!

I am so very blessed. The Lord has surrounded my family with so many wonderful friends and family who are such great Christian influences. I thank him every day for the special people in my life. This past week, I was so touched to read an article by one of my dear friends who I consider my sister, April Odom. She and her family are so precious to us and they are one of those families that we believe God placed in our path in his time and we could not be more happy about this!

April has a beautiful daughter who is the same age, 8 and in the same grade as my Shelby. Kelsy is one of the sweetest kids I know and is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside! I remembered getting a text asking us to pray for Kelsy's pony, Jack. Of course I stopped what I was doing and did just that because that's what a true prayer warrior does. I know that there are many folks that I can count on when I need prayers, so I always try to return the favor when I am asked. The outlook was grim for poor Jack and I know that this was a tough time for the Odom family as Jack was an integral part of their family. I don't want to take anything away from this story, so for all of you folks who don't live in Searcy, I have included the story here. If you haven't picked up this month's issue of Searcy Living I would encourage you to do so. I am so proud of our "hometown magazine" and really grateful that they share stories such as this in their magazine. It is such an inspiration to me each month to read the motivating stories, see the "out and about" photos, and I especially LOVE the make overs.

Thank you, April for being a friend sister to me. Thank you to Searcy Living for allowing this story to be told!!

The story begins on Page 38.

My kids like to hit the Children's Movies at Searcy Cinema 8. Although it isn't my favorite place to go, it is a nice, cool activity for summer. They show movies every Wednesday and Thursday. The movies are cheap ($1 or $2) and they can get a drink and popcorn for $1 each. Although there are some movies I don't think are suitable for my children, most of them are great!!

4th of July Recap

Redfaced 4th of July Beauty
It was a hot one this 4th of July!!
My how time flies when you're having fun.  It seems as though this summer has just slid right by.  We are now seeing "back to school" items in stores.  It's HOT HOT HOT!  When I say it's hot, I am not exaggerating!!  Yesterday it was 104° in the shade!!!  It's too hot to even be in the swimming pool.  These dog days of summer make me want to just hang out in the air conditioner and forget that outside even exists.  Fortunately I don't have an outside job, but my husband does.  He works hard for our family and every day I am so grateful for such a hard working husband and father to my children.  We love him to pieces!

With that being said, 4th of July has come and gone.  It is my husband's favorite time of the year.  He loves fireworks.  He and my brother-in-law have always had a great time buying fireworks and putting on a show for the family.  We gathered at my sister and brother-in-laws house where we enjoyed hamburgers, hot dogs, and all of the typical 4th of July fixin's!!  A fun time was had by all including family, friends, and even a few people stopped alongside the road to watch.

We had a great time this year.  We are so grateful to be surrounded by such loving and wonderful family and friends.  We had a great day and we are lucky to live in a land where we can celebrate our freedom!  I am so proud to be an American!!

God Bless America

God Bless America, Land That I Love!
Happy Independence Day!!
Are you eating home made ice cream, hot dogs, and hamburgers today? Will you be watching fireworks? Whatever you will be doing today, remember that we celebrate today because of our freedom and it does not come free. Lives are lost each and every day for you and I to have freedom. Please take a minute today to call, thank, or pray for a soldier and our leaders! "Blessed is a nation whose God is the Lord, the people he chooses for his inheritance." ~Psalm 33:12

Yes I do!!!

Photobucket
I went to a water park with my three children yesterday and I realized, I am getting old! I can't handle the heat like I used to. I was worn out by the end of the day yesterday. We all had a fun time and managed to avoid overexposure to the sun. We went through a lot of sunscreen. We reapplied every time it crossed my mind!

Today we are celebrating the holiday weekend at my sister's house ending the evening with fireworks. I am in the process of making some fresh home made salsa. I have cut and chopped almost a whole box of tomatoes and decided to take a coffee break before slicing the onions, garlic, and jalapenos! What are you doing to celebrate this holiday weekend? Whatever it is, be safe, have fun, and make memories!!!

Happy Independence Day Weekend!!!
