Thanks for your concern

PhotobucketI want to thank all of you for your educational e-mails over the past year. I am totally screwed up now and have little chance of recovery.

I no longer open a bathroom door without using a paper towel, or have the waitress put lemon slices in my ice water without worrying about the bacteria on the lemon peel. I can’t use the remote in a hotel room because I don’t know what the last person was doing while flipping through the adult movie channels.
I can’t sit down on the hotel bedspread because I can only imagine what has happened on it since it was last washed. I have trouble shaking hands with someone who has been driving because the number one pastime while driving alone is picking one’s nose.

Eating a little snack sends me on a guilt trip because I can only imagine how many gallons of trans fats I have consumed over the years. I can’t touch any woman’s purse for fear she has placed it on the floor of a public bathroom.

I MUST SEND MY SPECIAL THANKS to whoever sent me the one about rat poop in the glue on envelopes because I now have to use a wet sponge with every envelope that needs sealing. ALSO, now I have to scrub the top of every can I open for the same reason.

I no longer have any savings because I gave it to a sick girl (Penny Brown) who is about to die for the 1,387,258th time. That will change once I receive the $15,000 that Bill Gates/Microsoft and AOL are sending me for participating in their special e-mail program.

I no longer worry about my soul because I have 363,214 angels looking out for me, and St. Theresa’s Novena has granted my every wish.

I can’t have a drink in a bar because I’ll wake up in a bathtub full of ice with my kidneys gone. I can’t eat at KFC because their chickens are actually horrible mutant freaks with no eyes, feet or feathers. I can’t use cancer-causing deodorants even though I smell like a water buffalo on a hot day.

THANKS TO YOU I have learned that my prayers only get answered if I forward an e-mail to seven of my friends and make a wish within five minutes.

BECAUSE OF YOUR CONCERN, I no longer drink Coca Cola because it can remove toilet stains. I no longer buy gas without taking someone along to watch the car so a serial killer doesn’t crawl in my back seat when I’m filling up.

I no longer drink Pepsi or Fanta since the people who make these products are atheists who refuse to put ‘Under God’ on their cans. I no longer use Cling Wrap in the microwave because it causes seven different types of cancer.

AND THANKS FOR LETTING ME KNOW I can’t boil a cup of water in the microwave anymore because it will blow up in my face.. Disfiguring me for life. I no longer go to the movies because I could be pricked with a needle infected with AIDS when I sit down
I no longer go to shopping malls because someone will drug me with a perfume sample and rob me.

I no longer receive packages from UPS or Fed Ex since they are actually Al Qaeda agents in disguise. And I no longer answer the phone because someone will ask me to dial a number for which I will get a phone bill with calls to Jamaica , Uganda , Singapore , and Uzbekistan

I no longer buy cookies from Neiman-Marcus since I now have their recipe.
THANKS TO YOU I can’t use anyone’s toilet but mine because a big black snake could be lurking under the seat and cause me instant death when it bites my butt.
I no longer drive my car because buying gas from some companies supports Al Qaeda, and buying gas from all the others supports South American dictators.
I can’t do any gardening because I’m afraid I’ll get bitten by the wood spider and my hand will fall off.

Oh, by the way.....
A German scientist from Argentina , after a lengthy study, has discovered that people with insufficient brain activity read with their hand on the mouse. Don’t bother taking it off now, it’s too late.

PS: I now keep my toothbrush in the living room, because I was told by e-mail that water splashes over 6 ft. out of the toilet.

Looking @ The Sky on Friday

Photobucket

Photobucket

We went fishing in Mountain View Arkansas last weekend. This was the view from my spot in the boat. What a wonderfully relaxing time!! Since I showed you the view from my raft in my backyard pool last week, I took a photo as I was relaxing on the White River on Saturday. The weather was perfect (for the most part) and we had a beautiful day!

Inpromptu Fishing Trip

On Saturday we decided to take the kiddos on an impromptu fishing trip to Mountain View, Arkansas.  We took little Emily to grandma's house because I'm certain she's not ready for a day in a fishing boat on the river.  Shelby and Tyler were overly excited as I awakened them at 5am Saturday morning.

We had to make a quick pit stop to pick up a few supplies and I had to buy a fishing license.  The kids each picked out their own baits.  Shelby chose some girlie colored rainbow power bait.  It was the fish's choice of the day.  She was catching 'em just as quickly as she threw it in the water.

Photobucket

Tyler had a blast and was so proud of the fish he caught.  He loved to hold them and show them off for the camera.
Photobucket

Shelby, however was not as eager to show off her fish.  She did not want it to "touch her" at all.  She got close enough ONCE to pose for this photo.
Photobucket

The boys enjoyed lounging around for the most part and just enjoying our time together as a family on the water.
Photobucket

A fun time was had by all and we really enjoyed ourselves. We don't have lots of time to spend together as a family doing fun things like this. Brien and I spent ten days in Mountain View on our honeymoon after we were married. This was 12 years ago. I dreamed that we would one day have children that we would bring to this magnificent place and what a joy it is that this dream has finally come true.
Photobucket

We did have a bit of a competition going between the boys and girls. Unfortunately, the boys did win. They caught quite a few more fish than the girls but to keep the peace with the kiddos we called it a tie.

Plastic Toilet Paper

Brien and I were doing a little bit of birthday shopping for Tyler who will be turning 5 in a few weeks. We're having a backyard "Pirate/Swim Party" We're all super excited about it since we only have one summer birthday, Tyler always gets to have a pool party...but I digress.

We were driving down "Race Street". YES, that is actually the name of one of the main stretches in Searcy and we got behind a logging truck. Normally, I cringe when I get behind one of those things, possibly because I've watched too many movies where people run into the back of them and that never ends well. But, on this day it was a pleasant experience to be behind the truck.

You see in Arkansas (and I'm sure everywhere else), it's mandatory to put a red flag on the end of your load if you're carrying an over sized load. This truck had a red flag with writing on it! We inched closer to read the text:

Photobucket
If you object to logging Try Using Plastic Toilet Paper!

Now that's a thought to ponder over, wouldn't you say?  One word comes to mind...OUCH!!!  Keep on loggin' brother.  :)

Working For Gravy

PhotobucketYesterday we had lunch at Larry's Pizza in Searcy.  It's a favorite among our family.  They have what they call a "pizza parade" for their buffet. When pizza comes out of the oven, they don't just go sit it under the hot lamp, they bring it around and ask you if you want some!  They have everything from bbq chicken to chicken fajita, cheeseburger (made with mustard instead of pizza sauce) to mac & cheese (YES ON A PIZZA!).  It is delicious.  As we enjoyed our meal yesterday, my daughter noticed a sign on the table. She read it aloud slowly:  Our waitresses work for gr, gra, gravy???  Why do they work for gravy, she asked?!  Well, it's because they like to eat breakfast, I guess, sweetie!  ;)

Don't Pee In The Holy Water

Yesterday in the swimming pool, all was right with the world as I floated on my raft soaking up the sun.  I heard Tyler tell Shelby he was going to Baptize her in the pool.  She agreed only if she could do the same to him.  I snapped this photo (with my Iphone) as the ceremony began.

Photobucket

They would hold one another's nose and then push them off the ladder into the water. Thank goodness real baptisms don't go this way!  It went on this way for a few minutes until one pushed another a bit too hard and then (as usual!) it ended in fighting, so we had to move on to something else and the ladder was banned for a while.

Feelings...

PhotobucketThe best feelings are those that have no words to describe them.  Sunday morning my daughter and I sang a special together for the first time in church.  My daughter is 7 and is passionate about singing, but terribly shy.  She has indicated an interest in doing a special for a while now, and was going to sing with me once before but when the time came, she would not go on stage with me.

Sunday morning, I knelt down beside her and we sang Amy Grant's "Better Than an Hallelujah".  I can not describe the feeling I felt as the words flowed from our hearts in unison.  To say I was proud would be the understatement of the century!  I held back tears as I tried to focus on getting the words out and dealing with the emotions of the moment afterward.

What a beautiful thing is was being able to praise the Lord with my beautiful daughter.  She is beautiful inside out and she is a brilliant singer (and I am NOT a bit partial!).

After the sermon, many people told me what a blessing it was for them to watch us perform together and how they felt so blessed to have been a part of it.  :)  Watch out world, we just might be the next Judds!

Humor in Prayer

Our family always prays before we eat. The kids love to "bless" the food. Sometimes we get a simple prayer, sometimes it's more complex. Sometimes we even get more than one prayer each meal, depending on which child wants to be in the spotlight.

Last night, Tyler said the prayer and we began to eat. Emily decided that she wanted to voice a prayer as well, so we stopped eating and held hands once again and she smiled but did not speak. So, I prompted her, "God is good, God is great..." she smiled and repeated. I continued, "Let us thank him for our food."

I was swiftly corrected by my four year old son, Tyler who informed me that I was NOT saying it right...

Photobucket

"It's LETTUCE thank him for our food, Mom!!!"

Looking at the Sky on Friday

Photobucket

Photobucket
We were enjoying some FroYo in town last week and as we were sitting outside eating our frozen yogurt covered in every sort of topping you can imagine from Fruity Pebbles to Snickers Bars we saw this beauty. Of course my baby, the Canon camera was at home so I grabbed the little point and shoot I had in the console and tried to capture the colors of this bold and beautiful rainbow. It doesn't do it justice! It was a beautiful sign of God's promise!

Crash and Burn

Photobucket
There are so many good things about having a little boy.  My 4 (almost 5) year old son gives the greatest hugs.  He tells me he loves me (a lot!) and he can be so sweet, it makes your teeth hurt.  But, for all of those times he is good, there are just as many (if not more!!) times that he makes me want to pull out my hair! On Sunday, we had one of those instances.  We were having pot luck at church Sunday night, so I was busily preparing a cheesy broccoli and rice casserole in the kitchen while Brien napped and the kids were secretly plotting against me playing, or so I thought!

As I was putting the casserole in the oven, I heard a loud crashing sound.  The most alarming thing about the loud crashing sound was that it was NOT followed by scrambling feet.  So, I was worried that someone might have been trapped underneath some sort of debris.  I jumped up and ran in the direction of the crash.  I was met at my bedroom door by my 4 year old (previously mentioned) son who had a horrified look on his face.

"What happened?!!"  I said

"Nothing!"  He mustered as he was pushing me out of my bedroom.

"What did you break?!"  I said as I began to frantically search the walls for pictures, televisions, etc.  Everything looked like it was in tact.  Suddenly, as I walked into my bathroom, the sketchy details began to unravel on what happened.

I have a mirrored vanity which has three different mirrors with cabinets behind them.  Apparently, Tyler had crawled up on the cabinet/sink and was playing around and somehow knocked the door/mirror down which first hit the cabinet and then the tile floor.

Needless to say we have a cabinet with no door/mirror now and I've picked a couple of slivers of glass from my feet.  Thankfully Tyler was unhurt and even more so, thankfully Emily or Shelby wasn't standing underneath the big crash!

Some day when the house is quiet, I'm going to miss all of those big hugs, big kisses, and big crashes!!

How's This For Irony

Hello, my name is Tisha and I'm married to a plumber. This makes me "the plumber's wife". Just as any other profession when you're married to a plumber, most of the plumbing in your own home is sub-par because let's face it after he's been out fixing other people's plumbing problems who wants to bother with their own? Once upon a time when we were newly married, before he owned his own company, I called Brien's boss and had him to send a service repair plumber out to my house to fix a leak. Oh, the joy when hubby arrived to his own home for a service call! :)
Well, this morning, I had one of those "I've gotta blog about this" kind of moments, because let's face it as a working mother of three I get excited about the silliest things. My husband, the plumber...we'll call him "Brien" because, well that's his name...had been in the restroom for quite some time. After his departure of said restroom, I went in and noticed that the toilet was stopped up.

Photobucket
Now most women would have ran screaming from the room, but I am not that kind of woman. All I could do is laugh as I grabbed the plunger knowing my husband, Brien "the plumber" was on his way out the door to unstop other people's toilets but here I was at home unstopping ours! Oh, the irony of it all!

So, instead of getting angry with Brien for using 10 feet of toilet paper, I decided to write this sincere post with the added commentary to BP. If Charmin ultra soft can stop up a toilet, why aren't we trying it to plug the hole of gushing oil in the ocean?! Just a thought.

Good day!

Friday Night Ignite

Photobucket
If you weren't there, you surely missed a blessing!  What a fun time we had at Crosby Baptist Church's First Friday Night Ignite. There were 38 people there and this was just the first night, with only a week's worth of planning.  Friday Night Ignite is a contemporary Christian worship service for anyone who is waiting to receive a blessing!  Crosby Baptist Church in Searcy, Arkansas will be hosting this event for the remainder of the summer on Friday nights at 7pm.  Friday Night Ignite was created to spread the fire started by the youth at church camp.  We want to spread this fire not only to our church members, but to yours as well!!

Randy Morris was a great speaker and brought an awesome message.  The newly formed Praise and Worship team did an awesome job leading us in some moving songs.  It's great to be able to worship the lord through song and feel the holy spirit moving through the place as the beautiful lyrics flow!  Refreshments were served afterward and I am certain that everyone that attended can say they truly left feeling blessed.

I hope that those of you reading this who live close enough will join us this Friday, July 16 at 7pm for the next installment.  Bobby Shawn will be bringing a devotional message and since Randy and his family will be out of town, I will be helping out with the praise and worship team.  I am looking forward to this and I hope to see my friends and family there who I know will be reading this post.  I won't call you out, but you know who you are!!!  If you need a ride, give me a call.

If you're so inclined, Sunday morning I will also be singing a special so come back and visit us Sunday morning.  Worship starts at 10:45!

Conversations with Tyler

Photobucket
Sweet 4 year old (chocolate covered) Tyler

Tyler is my four year old son.  Last night we had this conversation:

Tyler:  Mommy, I love you all the way to Jesus.

Me:  Wow, that's a long way but I love you all the way to Jesus AND BACK!

Tyler:  Well, actually that's not very far 'cause Jesus is in your heart.

...okay, all together now:  Awwwww!  He can be sweet, even when he's awake.

Sleepy Emily

PhotobucketPardon the quality of this photo, as it was taken very quickly with my Iphone last week when I woke up and realized that my youngest daughter (who is 19 months) had comfortably placed herself beside my bed and fallen asleep early in the morning! I posted this photo on my facebook page but forgot to post it here.   I think I was still half asleep, as this was pre-coffee and I didn't even think to grab my camera!

Little Emily woke up and brought her "blankie and cuppie" beside my bed and fell back to sleep.  I woke up when she came into the room.  She stood there quietly, and I must have drifted back to sleep.  I guess she was content with making herself a little pallet in the floor beside the bed.  She slept long enough for me to enjoy a couple of cups of coffee and a good Beth Moore Bible Study.

I love this little girl and it's moments like this that I cherish and gladly blog about because there are going to be days when I wish I could get them back!  For now, I enjoy them and share them with you!

Girl's Day Out Turned Shelby Blue!

PhotobucketPhotobucketOn Thursday, Shelby and I had the afternoon to ourselves. We decided to go have pedicures. She also had her nails painted. Since mine are still recovering from my mother's day gift (acrylic nails) I didn't have them polished, but I do love a good pedicure. I have pretty red polished toes.  Shelby had hers painted blue and the nail technician saw that she had on zebra striped flip flops, so she asked her if she wanted zebra stripes! Of course she did, so now she's all fancied up on her fingers AND toes. Afterward, we had lunch together were I had a club sandwich and Shelby tried to take a bite and her mouth wasn't big enough!  All in all we had a fun time together just the two of us.
