Fitness Friday - THAT Pair of Jeans

Do you have THAT pair of jeans? You know the ones I'm talking about. Those jeans that hang in your closet staring you in the face every time you open the door. They almost seem to mock you in your weight loss quest. Every once in a while you'll take them down and put a leg in them only to be disgusted that you still can't pull them up. It's probably that favorite pair that you wore before the birth of your last child. This is the case for me. I have a pair of jeans that I absolutely love. Since the birth of my third child I have not been even close to fitting into them. Most of my favorite jeans are so worn that they really need to be replaced. But, since I am steadily losing weight I hate to invest too much money into new jeans until I drop at least one pant size. This morning I woke up and realized that I forgot to put the load of jeans I had in the washer into the dryer last night. I had no clean jeans. Normally that wouldn't be a problem...just dig through the pile and get the cleanest pair and slap those bad boys on. Well, that was a problem because they were all wet! There was no time for drying, so I frantically searched the closet. Staring me right in the face was that pair of jeans. Those jeans that hugged me so brilliantly before the birth of my third child, that pair of jeans that refused to expand to fit my expanded figure. I boldly took them down out of the closet and began as I had so many times before to try them on. This time, I put my feet in and started to tug them up. Normally I wouldn't make it very far before realizing that I was getting nowhere fast and I would kick them off and hang them back in place so that they could mock me upon my next entry into the closet. On this day, something was different. The jeans didn't stall at my calves. In fact, they didn't stall at my thighs either, and met my hips with ease! I could feel the adrenaline flowing through my veins. I had actually pulled up this pair of "judging" pants.  I did not have to lay on the bed, hold my breath and pray that they would button.  They buttoned with ease!  Mock me no more, denim foe for I have conquered you!!! I managed to not only get these jeans on, but they were buttoned and zipped with ease! On this day, I can proudly say that I have dropped one pant size! Now, I suppose that my next move is to dig further in the closet and find another pair of judging pants!

As of today I have lost 15.5 pounds. I am currently doing the EA Sports Active - More Workouts 6 Week Challenge for my fitness regimen. If you're looking for an intense Wii Workout, I can promise you, this is it!!! It is a great all around workout. On Tuesday, when I was working out, I was doing reverse crunches. I really do think that my virtual trainer was trying to kill me. I was on the verge of tears. Okay, I was actually crying. I was digging deep, trying to do those last few reps. I was NOT going to give up now. Usually my kids will cheer me on, but this time they hovered over me asking if I wanted them to turn it off. My 4 year old said, "Mommy, are you dead?". I told him that I didn't think I was, although I sure felt like it at the time. The first thing that they said to my husband when he got home was, Daddy, the Wii almost killed Mommy today!!!

If you're also using the Wii Fit to get thin in twenty - ten, hop over to The Wii Mommies where you are sure to find lots of tips to help you reach your goal.  Thanks to everyone who has supported me along my weight loss journey.  I've had ups and downs, but with hard work and dedication I have realized that I can do it!  You can too!!!

Dear God:

Every single evening
As I'm lying here in bed,
This tiny little Prayer
Keeps running through my head:

God bless all my family
Wherever they may be,
Keep them warm
And safe from harm
For they're so close to me.

And God, there is one more thing
I wish that you could do;
Hope you don't mind me asking,
Please bless my computer too.

Now I know that it's unusual
To Bless a motherboard,
But listen just a second
While I explain it to you, Lord.

You see, that little metal box
Holds more than odds and ends;
Inside those small compartments
Rest so many of my friends.

I know so much about them
By the kindness that they give,
And this little scrap of metal
Takes me in to where they live.

By faith is how I know them
Much the same as you.
We share in what life brings us
And from that our friendships grew.

Please take an extra minute
From your duties up above,
To bless those in my address book
That's filled with so much love.

Wherever else this prayer may reach
To each and every friend,
Bless each e-mail in box
And each person who hits 'send'.

When you update your Heavenly list
On your own Great CD-ROM,
Bless everyone who says this prayer
Sent up to GOD.Com

Three Olympians - Strapped

Last week, three US Olympic Skiers: Hailey Duke, Sarah Schleper, and Megan McJames were training in Jackson Hole, Wyoming after returning from the opening ceremonies in Vancouver. As luck would have it, an awesome studio owned by John Frechette called Strapped is also located in Jackson Hole. Fortunately, these two forces came together and a partnership was formed!

John Frechette has a unique product line of handmade fused glass jewelry and accessories, such as cuff link sets, and even housewares! Frechette launched Strapped Belts®, a fused glass products store, in 2008 as a result of life's twists and turns. After his employer went bankrupt, he was "Strapped". Strapped for cash and strapped for a job. Starting with fused and kiln-formed glass belt buckles, Strapped hit the ground running and demand for the accessories line quickly allowed for expansion into rings.

Hailey Duke began skiing at the age of 2 on Dollar Mountain in Idaho is one of the 22 athletes on the 2010 Olympic Alpine USA Ski Team. She is pictured (on the right) wearing: A Cobalt Blue Glass Ring, Cobalt Blue Rectangle Earrings and Wyoming Flag Belt Buckle
Career Highlights include:
  • 2009: World Championships Team
  • 2008: Back to back Europa Cup slalom wins (Lenggries, GER)
  • 2008: 4th in Europa Cup slalom standings
  • 2008: 2nd in NorAm slalom standings
  • 2008: U.S. Championships slalom silver
  • 2007: U.S. Championships slalom bronze
  • 2007: 56th to 7th in first ever Europa Cup
  • 4th in 2007 NorAm SL standings (1 win)

Megan McJames - has raced six World Cup Giant Slalom races and one Slalom race in 2010, and she is ranked 37th in the World Cup 2010 Giant Slalom standings. She also began skiing at the ripe old age of 2!!  She is pictured (center) wearing Grafitti Earrings, Large Square Rings, & Preppy Belt Buckle.
Career Highlights Include:
  • 2010 Olympic Team Member
  • 2009: Personal best 14th in Soelden GS
  • 2008 NorAm GS champion

  • 2007 NorAm giant slalom runnerup (2 wins)
  • 2006 NorAm overall, super, GS champion (3 wins)
  • 6th in combined at '06 Junior Worlds
  • Former National Development Systems athlete
Sarah Schleper is known as the hardest working mommy in the business, she is working on her 4th Olympics!  She's also probably the only member of the U.S. roster who says, this is her last Olympics, meaning she's going to win - that's all.  She is pictured left wearing Solid Earrings, Large Square Rings, & Jackson Hole Tram Belt Buckle.
Career Highlights include:
  • Olympics: 1998 '02, '06, '10; Worlds; '01, '03, '05, '09
  • 2009: First races since March of '06
  • 10th in slalom at the '06 Olympics
  • First World Cup win to close '05 (SL, Lenzerheide)
  • Fourth U.S. slalom crown in 2005
  • 2nd in SL at '04 World Cup Finals
  • '97 Juniors Worlds SL silver medal
The Snow King Resort in Jackson Hole is the setting of the photo shoot that took place after the girls were blinged out to the max with Strapped merchandise.  These ladies will hit the slopes on the 24th (tonight!!!) -26th in the final days of the 2010 games in Slalom and Giant Slalom. Be sure to tune in and cheer them on as they work their magic.  We wish our girls the best of luck and may John's Strapped bling be replaced by Gold, Silver and Bronze!

When you head over and take a look at the Strapped website, I know you'll like what you see.  John has been gracious enough to extend a 25% discount for the readers of CrAzY Working Mom.  Use the coupon code  "OLYMPICS" for the discount upon check out.

Please Note:
This post was made possible by the good folks over at Business2Blogger.  I was given the discount code for my readers to use and in addition to the discount code, I will be given a $25 coupon to use for Strapped Merchandise in exchange for this post.  Any opinions stated above are mine and were not influenced by any outside source.  I cannot be responsible for the statements made by the sponsoring companies or it's affiliates. Conversations with Tyler - Part Two

...continued from yesterday.  To read the first part of this conversation click here.

Me:  Tyler, you know if you have a bad dream, this dream catcher will catch it and keep it there so you won't have anymore bad dreams, right?

Tyler:  Oh, yeah I forgot about that.  Maybe the batteries are dead.

Me:  No, maybe we need to take it outside and shake the bad dreams out of it.

Tyler:  I ain't goin' outside.  I'm scared of the dark...and the lions!

Me:  Well, maybe tomorrow we'll take your dream catcher down and take it outside and shake the bad dreams out of it.

Tyler:  We'd better do Shelby's too 'cause I know if mine is full hers is too and we'll change the batteries in them and maybe the smoke detectors too.

Camp Shane - For Kids : Below are 5 tips for time-crunched parents to cook healthy at home. The tips are offered by Ziporah Janowski, co-owner of the Camp Shane weight loss camp for children and young adults.

“When they first come to us, eating out has become a habit for many of our campers,” says Ziporah, also a mother of two teenagers. “We try to educate them that cooking at home doesn’t have to be an onerous task. In addition to saving money, preparing meals at home can be a simple route to weight loss and to building a healthy lifestyle for the whole family.”

Ziporah has also released her favorite recipes for quick & healthy dinners, such as “1-2-3 Simple Pea Soup” and “Rush Hour Rainbow Primavera,” here: www.campshane.com/blog.

  • Make frozen veggies your friend. Stock up on frozen veggies like spinach, peas and broccoli florets to add to main dishes or serve as sides by themselves. In addition to lasting longer, research shows that today’s “flash frozen” vegetables can be just as healthful as their fresh counterparts.
  • Choose longer-lasting lettuce. Sure, the triple-washed bagged lettuce is easy, but it costs a fortune and it doesn’t last very long. Try seeking out lesser known types of fresh greens that last longer than the traditional green leafy lettuces. Examples of nutrient-rich lettuce types that last a long time--and are very inexpensive--include things like chicory, romaine, radicchio, kale and dandelion greens.
  • Get Technical. Subscribe to an e-newsletter that will email you healthy and quick recipes each week. There are thousands of them that you can sign up for on sites like FoodNetwork.com and RecipeNewsletters.com.
  • Leave the skins on. Not only will it save you tons of time from peeling, if you leave the skins on vegetables such as potatoes and carrots when you are cooking, it helps them to retain more of their nutrient value and fiber and keep you full longer.
  • Make it a family affair. One of the best ways to prevent childhood obesity is getting kids into the kitchen. Encourage your kids to ask questions and help out while you are preparing the meal.

About Camp Shane:
First established in 1968, Camp Shane is the longest running weight-loss camp in the world. With over 40 years of experience in helping overweight children establish healthy diets and active lifestyles, Camp Shane provides a friendly, supportive and non-threatening environment. Much more effective than traditional “fat camps” or “boot camps,” Camp Shane campers have an extremely high success rate when it comes to keeping weight off for the long-term. The program currently treats coed children ages 7–17 and young women ages 18–25 at its locations in New York and Arizona. And there is a program for coed young adults and adults in New York: www.shanedietresorts.com. For more information, visit www.campshane.com, visit us on Twitter @campshane or call 914-271-4141.

The proceeding information comes from e-mails that I have received throughout the week.  I have cut and pasted most of them from press releases.  If you have important information that you think will fit the content of this blog, please see the PR Information at the top of the blog.  Thanks so much.

Conversations with Tyler - Part One

When Tyler and I say our prayers at bedtime, we ask God to help him to be a big boy and sleep all night in his own bed and for him to not have bad dreams.
After the prayer...

Tyler: (laughs) Mommy, I didn't know you knew why I came to your bed in the middle of the night! You told God you know why.

Me: You have bad dreams and get scared, so that's why you come to my bed, right?

Tyler:  Well, sometimes I wake up and think that lions will come in the house.

Me: Oh, really. You think there are lions roaming free outside?

Tyler: Well, there might be a man with some lions who will open the door and let them in.

Me: Naaahhh, he can't get in the house 'cause it's locked.

Tyler: Oh yes he can, if he's got a track hoe key!

Me:  Silly boy, a track hoe key will only start a track hoe.  It won't open our door.

Tyler:  Well, he might break my bedroom window and come in.

Me:  Nope, he can't do that.  It's too high off the ground.

Tyler:  Oh, yes he can.  He  could just throw something hard and metal through my window and then the lions could just jump in!

...see more of this extensive and imaginative conversation with Tyler tomorrow.

Remember the Card Catalog, Tape Players, and Space Invaders?

When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears with their tedious diatribes about how hard things were. When they were growing up; what with walking twenty-five miles to school every morning.... Uphill... Barefoot.... BOTH ways… yadda, yadda, yadda

I remember promising myself that when I grew up, there was no way I was going to tell my kids about how hard I had it and how easy they've got it!

But now that I'm over the ripe old age of thirty, I can't help but look around and notice the youth of today. You've got it so easy! I mean, compared to my childhood, you live in a Utopia! I hate to say it, but you kids today, you don't know how good you've got it!

Internet - When I was a kid we didn't have the Internet. If we wanted to know something, we had to go to the library and look it up ourselves, in the card catalog!!

E-mail - There was no email!! We had to actually write somebody a letter - with a pen! Then you had to walk all the way across the street and put it in the mailbox, and it would take like a week to get there! Stamps were 10 cents!

Parenting - Child Protective Services didn't care if our parents beat us. As a matter of fact, the parents of all my friends also had permission to smack us! Nowhere was safe!

There were no MP3's or Napsters or iTunes! If you wanted to steal music, you had to hitchhike to the record store and shoplift it yourself.  Or, you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio, and the DJ would usually talk over the beginning and @#*% it all up! There were no CD players! We had tape decks in our car. We'd play our favorite tape and "eject" it when finished, and then the tape would come undone rendering it useless. Cause, hey, that's how we rolled, Baby! Dig?

Call Waiting - We didn't have fancy crap like Call Waiting! If you were on the phone and somebody else called, they got a busy signal, that's it!  If you were waiting on your boyfriend to call while your little sister was on the phone, tough luck!

Cell Phones - There weren't any cell phones. If you left the house, you just didn't make a call or receive one. You actually had to be out of touch with your "friends". OH MY GOSH !!! Think of the horror... not being in touch with someone 24/7!!! And then there's TEXTING. Yeah, right. Please! You kids have no idea how annoying you are.

Caller ID - we didn't have fancy Caller ID either! When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was! It could be your school, your parents, your boss, the collection agent... you just didn't know!!! You had to pick it up and take your chances, mister!

Games - We didn't have any fancy PlayStation or Xbox video games with high-resolution 3-D graphics! We had the Atari 2600! With games like 'Space Invaders' and 'Asteroids'. Your screen guy was a little square! You actually had to use your imagination!!! And there were no multiple levels or screens, it was just one screen... Forever!  There were no cheat codes because you could never win. The game just kept getting harder and harder and faster and faster until you died! Just like LIFE!

Television - You had to use a little book called a TV Guide to find out what was on! You were screwed when it came to channel surfing! You had to get off your butt and walk over to the TV to change the channel!!! NO REMOTES!!! Oh, no, what was the world coming to?!?!

Cartoons - There was no Cartoon Network either! You could only get cartoons on Saturday Morning. Do you hear what I'm saying? We had to wait ALL WEEK for cartoons!

Outside -  Our parents told us to stay outside and play... all day long. Oh, no, no electronics to soothe and comfort. And if you came back inside... you were doing chores!

Car seats - oh, please! Mom threw you in the back seat and you hung on. If you were lucky, you got the "safety arm" across the chest at the last moment if she had to stop suddenly, and if your head hit the dashboard, well that was your fault for calling "shot gun" in the first place! She just had cheap car insurance so you'd better hope like heck that you didn't damage that dashboard!

See! That's exactly what I'm talking about! You kids today have got it too easy. You're spoiled rotten! You guys wouldn't have lasted five minutes back in 1980 or any time before!

Magnapods Product Reveiw

Magnapods:  Where have you been all of my life?!?!  Magnapods are magnetic organizers for the home.  They are tiny little slices of heaven, if you ask me.  I love to be organized but being a working mother of three children can prove that to be quite difficult!! These clear, plastic containers will magnetically stick to any metal surface.  Generally speaking, you could put them in your bathroom, on your medicine cabinet, but I found mine to be most useful on the refrigerator - to hold pens and markers, scissors, that I need to keep put up high where little hands can't get them.  I also found it handy for small things that seem to gather on the bar. Unfortunately I use a lazy woman's toothbrush that requires batteries...you know the kind that vibrates so when you're half asleep you only have to hold your head up and you still get a decent clean.  This means that the base of my toothbrush was way too big for the toothbrush holder.  Thank goodness I have LOTS of other things that will fit just properly and stays right out of the hands of the little ones!!!  Fortunately, I found the PERFECT item for the toothbrush holder...

Toothbrush Holder / Scissor Storage
Voila!  Away from the kids!!

                                                        What did I think?
All in all I think this product is great, and very handy for those OCD mommies like me who want everything to be neat and organized!  They are easily placed and removed for cleaning, and very durable and since they are clear, they will match any decor.  I think that the smaller organizers would be perfect for paper clips and the likes that I need on a daily basis at the office.  I have a magnetic file cabinet right by my desk.  I plan on trying them out there.

Where to buy?
To purchase Magnapods, you can click here.

Disclosure:  I was given the toothbrush holder and cosmetic organizer pictured in the review by the sponsor in exchange for a review.  No other form of compensation has been given to me nor any other member of my family  The review is my honest opinion of the product.  I cannot be responsible for the statements made by the sponsoring companies or it's affiliates.   To read my full disclosure policy, click here.

Conversations with Tyler

I have come to the conclusion that my 4 year old son will most likely be a writer or movie director when he grows up.  He very well might be the next James Cameron. Some day I'll be a kept "mommy" when my son is rich and famous. I'll be looking up Outer Banks vacation rental while sipping something fruity!  He is only 4 years old and he has such a vivid imagination and an explanation for everything!  In a single day, we have so many funny conversations but most of the time I forget them before I ever get here with them.  I made a mental note of this one so I could share it here.

On our way home from pre-school...

Tyler:  Mommy, (insert friend's name here)'s Mommy is sick.

Me:  Oh, she is?!  On no!  What's wrong with her.

Tyler:  She has T4C...or maybe it's T4B.  I can't remember.

Me:  Really, is that bad?  Which is worse, T4C or T4B?

Tyler:  Well, T4C is VERY bad, Mom.  They have to cut off both of your legs if you have it.  But, T4B is not.  You only have to take medicine for it.  I think it's just like a bad cough.

Me:  I hope she only has T4B, then!

Looking at the Sky on Friday - Mo's Birthday!

Photobucket

Thank goodness all of the snow is gone. Well, most of it. There are still some piles left from the snowmen and at the end of the house that never sees the sunlight.  There are also huge piles in parking lots where it was scooped up so that cars wouldn't slide into one another.  My yard is starting to slowly dry up. From the looks of the forecast, we're likely to see rain all weekend so I'm not sure how long that will last. It has been so good to see the sun this week. I have actually raised the mini blinds in order to let some sun shine in. It's been so beautiful. It's still cold, but I can deal with the cold as long as we're seeing some sun to go along with it. Spring will be here soon. That's the hope I am holding on to! I don't think I have ever been SO ready for it! Have a great weekend everyone! I hope you too see some sun this weekend.

On a side note, a fellow LATSOFer is celebrating his birthday today!
Hop over and wish Morgen of It's a Blog Eat Blog World  a Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday, Mo from CrAzY Working Mom

Feeling Fit on Friday

I finally gave in and bought the new EA Sports Active - More Workouts for Wii.  I have been debating for a couple of weeks now on whether or not I wanted to give it a try.  I am SO glad I did.  It has been an awesome addition to my diet and exercise plan.  I am doing the six week challengeWii Fit Balance Board and so far I'm loving it.  I totally dig the warm up and cool down sessions.  You do not need to use the wii remote or nun-chuck to do these exercises so you can be more relaxed and at ease while you are cooling down.  The only problem I seemed to discover while doing the floor exercises is that my 17 month old daughter wants to come sit on me while I am doing them so it makes accomplishing them a bit more difficult.  You can also weight yourself using the so this will help you keep track of your weight in the game in addition to the extra activities you can add and the journal survey.  The work outs are more intense and I feel like I am getting much more of a work out than before.  I am really hoping that I can step up my weight loss with this new program.  Instead of reading relacore reviews or looking for the next best diet pill, I am working out and dieting. Hopefully these lifestyle changes I am making will not only have good results for me, but in teaching my children the new healthy eating habits, it will help them make the right food choices in life as well!  I have decided to change my weigh-in day to Friday.  I think it will make things easier and less stressful for me to do it this way because I tend to stay on the wagon more during the week than on the weekends.  My rest days for the six week challenge are Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday so I think things will just be easier for me to weigh in on Friday.  My Friday results were good.  I have lost 3.5 pounds this week.  This brings my total weight loss to 13.5 pounds.  I'm so stoked to be losing weight and feeling great!

Back on the Social Media Bandwagon

Good morning, friends! I am back at the office today after some sort of stomach bug kept me in bed most of the day yesterday. I managed to get up and help Brien get the kids dressed to go to Grandma's house. Shelby was not feeling well either, so she ended up staying home with me. She and I slept a big part of the day. I don't know what it was, but it wasn't fun. I felt dizzy and light headed every time I would stand up. I think that after the day I had yesterday, I probably need some under eye cream for dark circles because I know I don't look so hot. But, at least I am among the land of the living for today. I spent a whole day away from blogging, twitter, facebook, google buzz, e-mail, and any other social media that I actively participate in. It woke up this morning feeling completely disconnected and wondering what was going on in the world. It's great to be feeling well again and even better to be back online!

The Fresh Smell of Coffee Before Bed

My favorite coffee mug!
We have one of those not-so-fancy, but very convenient coffee pots with a clock and auto brew.  Every night when I clean the kitchen after dinner, I fill the coffee pot with water and put in a fresh filter and coffee for the next morning's brew.  At night when I do this task, it always makes me want a fresh,  hot cup of coffee.

I began the discussion with my husband about how the sense of smell can immediately make you crave something.  Think about it.  If you walk into a place that serves coffee, take Hastings or Barns & Noble for instance, it's hard to not leave wanting a cup even if you were just there to rent a movie or grab a book. How about the aisle at the grocery store that has the coffee grinder? You're shopping for the best eye cream for wrinkles but it's hard for me to resist the urge to buy that yummy freshly ground coffee no matter what time of the day it is!

Another one of those smells that really gets to me are the cinnamon-sugar pecans or almonds.  You know the ones that smell an entire arena!  EVERY time we attend an event at the Verizon Arena in North Little Rock be it a concert or something on ice, it takes every ounce of self control that I have to avoid the stand that sells those things because they fill up the whole place with that sweet, sugary smell.  Oh, or that cinnabon stand in the mall?!  WOW, those things sure do smell good.

What about baby powder?  Does the smell of baby powder make you want to hold a freshly bathed baby?  Okay, well me neither I just wanted to make sure that you didn't leave to go get some coffee or cinnabons.

So, what smell is irresistible to you?  What is something that makes you weak at the knees?

FYI: Press Releases

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, 2,185 children younger than 18 are reported missing each day.
In order to recognize educators who have shown the greatest commitment to teaching child safety in the classroom, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and Honeywell have launched their fifth annual Got 2B Safe! Awards program.  The program rewards five Grand Prize winners with a $10,000 classroom makeover and 100 other winners with $500 worth of school supplies.  Teachers can submit essays before March 26th for a chance to win.

The Got 2B Safe! program uses four simple rules that children can use in potentially dangerous situations – check first, go with a friend, it’s my body and tell a trusted adult.  These critical lessons have continued to gain awareness among teachers, as many educators have used the activities and posters from the Got 2B Safe! safety kit in the classroom.  To learn more about how teachers can win a classroom makeover, click here.

In 2009, The Fresh Air Fund's Volunteer Host Family program, called Friendly Town, gave close to 5,000 New York City boys and girls, ages six to 18, free summer experiences in the country and the suburbs. Volunteer host families shared their friendship and homes up to two weeks or more in 13 Northeastern states from Virginia to Maine and Canada.

The Fresh Air Fund relies on donations to provide memorable summers to NYC children.

The Fresh Air Fund needs hosts for the summer of 2010.

More than 65% of all Fresh Air children are reinvited to stay with their host family, year after year.

Thanks to host families who open up their homes for a few weeks each summer, children growing up in New York City’s toughest neighborhoods have experienced the joys of Fresh Air experiences.

Picture the Audience Naked...or Use Bravina!

Did you know that public speaking anxiety ("stage fright") is the number one fear of Americans. One out of every three people rate public speaking anxiety as their number one fear - above death, divorce and job loss. We've all heard the adage, picture your audience naked to calm your nerves. Well, how would you like to be able to take a natural supplement to do so? Bravina is comprised of *nine essential natural supplements and has been shown to decrease public speaking anxiety by almost 97%**!

Okay, so you don't do any public speaking?  Well, what if you're like me and have three children, a dog, a husband, and hardly no time to concentrate?!?!  81% of those tested** with Bravina reported an increase in concentration! Wouldn't it be nice to be able to take a supplement to help you to concentrate on the task at hand? Bravina is a natural supplement with no side effects*. To read more about the natural ingredients in Bravina, click here.

So what did I think?
I was sent a sample of this product to review. I took it on a Saturday when I knew I was going to be home all day with the kids. I thought it would help me to focus and calm the anxieties that sometimes comes with three kids cooped up in the house during the winter time. My results:  I was able to go about my day as any other day without any side effects.  But with that being said, I don't know that I really noticed any changes.  Perhaps it did help me to keep my cool with the kiddos and hubby a bit more.  I was able to get most of the house cleaned, so maybe it did help me to focus on the task at hand a bit better.  But, all in all I would say that this is not something that I would rely on (for me) to focus or calm anxieties.  I also tried taking this product on a regular work day at the office.  I took it on a Thursday when my work load is a bit heavier due to payroll.  I didn't feel like it made a difference on this day either.  I don't do any public speaking, although I've never really had a fear of it.  I can't attest whether or not it would help me if I did.  I used to be a paid singer, so I have always been pretty much at home in front of people.  I do lead a somewhat stressful life as I am a working mother of three children.  The positive in this review is that I had no side effects from this supplement but all in all I don't feel like it made a noticeable difference to the anxieties in my day to day life.

Did you Avoid Chocolate This Weekend?!

It's Monday again.  I hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day weekend.  I know I did.  It was tough staying on track for the weight loss plan, but I managed to do so, somewhat.  I didn't lose weight last week, but I did maintain my current weight. I can attribute some of this to my wonderful husband for not bringing me home any boxed chocolates or chocolate covered strawberries (my favorite!!!) this year for Valentine's Day.  I strayed from the plan a bit this week and didn't keep up with my points as I should so, I wasn't planning on a big loss this week.

I had a lovely Valentine's Day.   We went to a beautiful church service where a good friend brought a wonderful message.  I was actually moved to tears.  He was preaching about love.  You must have patience, understanding and compassion in order to have love.  He preached on each of these virtues and when he spoke of patience, I felt that I needed to listen.  This is something that I've always had a hard time with, especially with my family.  I have little patience and it's something I have always needed to work on.  I try, I really do but sometimes I just let things build up and I just lose it.  I realize that this is something that I need to talk with God about and have him to help me work on this.  Thanks to Eric for a wonderful message that I took to heart.  I do love my husband and my family, so I have promised myself that I will work on these things in order to improve my relationship with all of them.

After church we had lunch at Fuji's Japanese Steakhouse.  It is always fun to eat at a Japanese Steakhouse, but with three kids in tow I had my doubts about the entertainment factor.  Thankfully my doubts were unfounded.  Emily, my 17 month old daughter got a bit fussy before the show started.  Once the chef came out she was in awe and once the fire started she declared that the grill was HOT.  Our dining neighbors got a kick out of Emily's play by play of the HOT grill and the look of sheer terror on the face of our four year old son, Tyler.  The kids enjoyed themselves and surprisingly I was not stressed out to the max that my children were bothering someone.  I was being patient (see above) and everyone was at ease.  :)

The kids came home and made cards for my in-laws and then called them to come over.  The kids were so proud that they had cards for Memaw and Papaw - the feelings were most definitely mutual!  They enjoyed some time with the grand kids and got to take home special arts and crafts afterward.

All in all today was a great day.  I had a beautiful day with my family and I couldn't be happier with life right now.  I hope that you all had a great day as well.

Happy Valentine's Day!

I hope you all have a wonderful Valentine's Day.  Whether you're celebrating with your sweet heart or boycotting the retail embellished "holiday", I hope that you have a beautiful day filled with love.  If you're eating chocolates from a box, remember you can always put back the ones you don't like after taking a bite!  There is no written rule against that.  In fact, it's encouraged, that way those who come along after you will know what they are biting into.  They should thank you for helping them out!  Monday, when you're cruising around on the 'net looking for safe weight loss pills you'll be glad you only took one bite of that bitter lemon filled chocolate.

Happy Valentine's Day!

I received this beautiful arrangement of roses yesterday at the office.  It was totally unexpected.  I love my husband, but normally he's not much of a planner.  He's usually right in the middle of the sea of men shopping the day before or the day of Valentine's Day.  This year, he thought a head at least a few days!  Since he knows I am on a diet, he didn't do the chocolate covered strawberries that I normally get.  For that, I am thankful because I have NO self control when it comes to eating those things.  But, I tell ya this time of year, a person could seriously consider switching careers into the flower business! The guy that brought my flower arrangement yesterday had a tough time finding mine in a van of roses!  I also got a mani-pedi.  How do I know this already, you ask?!  Well, my brilliant husband bought it with his business debit card.  I do all of our banking online, so yesterday when I was doing the daily report, my favorite nail place showed up in the bank register, so I knew what he was up to!  So, a lesson to all of you men out there...USE CASH to buy gifts for your girls!  I still haven't used my massage he got me for Christmas, so I think maybe very soon I'll combine those gift certificates and have a "ME" day!

Shelby celebrated  Valentine's Day with her class at school yesterday. She had a great time. She came home with lots of awesome cards in her home-made box. I think she went into sugar shock on the way home due to the brownies, cookies, juice, and candy she consumed at the party and in the van. I thought back to my days in Elementary School. I loved the class parties, but V-day was always my favorite. I loved getting the cards. The candy was great too, along with the games but my absolute favorite was the card exchange.

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone from our house to yours.

Mickey Mouse Club House: Minnie's Bow-Tique

My little Emily Grace is a HUGE fan of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.  When the theme song begins, no matter where she is in the house, she will run to the television and start dancing.  She loves to give Micky Mouse kisses on the television screen.  She can also do a mean "hot dog" dance.

We were all very excited to find out that the girls' favorite character Mini Mouse now stars in her own DVD with four full length episodes of Disney's hit show, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.  The episodes include:
Minnie’s Bow-tique, Minnie’s Bee Story, Minnie’s Picnic, & Minnie’s Pajama Party (a never before seen episode!).

The DVD also comes with a special treat for your little girl (or girls in my case).  It comes with a magnetic picture frame with a Minnie Mouse head and four bows as well.  The little magnets will come in handy for us because we have LOTS of priceless artwork to display on the fridge.  I have enough pictures for ten families so I had no trouble finding a photo to put in it either.  The girls were excited to get a frame with the movie.  It's always a nice thing to get an extra "surprise" when you get a new DVD.

All in all, if you're a fan of the show you will like this DVD.  Girls will prefer it to boys, I'm sure but all of their favorite Mickey Mouse Clubhouse characters are included on the DVD.   It's always nice to have DVDs of their favorite television shows for long trips, or bad weather where no satellite signal is available. This DVD also includes Disney's Adventure Mode, an interactive game using the remote control with multiple play levels. This is a DVD that I would recommend that you add to your collection.  If you need more convincing, here's a clip from Minnie's Bow-tique:

I want one of those photo bow ties! That would be so much handier than carrying around my Canon DSLR! I wonder if Cannon would consider making one of these?! Click the box art above to take you to the Disney page for more information on this educational pre-school series. To find purchase information, you can click here. * I received a review copy of this DVD in exchange for my opinion of the movie. No other form of compensation has been received and the opinions stated above are my own. To read my full disclosure policy, please click here.
