Three Olympians - Strapped

Last week, three US Olympic Skiers: Hailey Duke, Sarah Schleper, and Megan McJames were training in Jackson Hole, Wyoming after returning from the opening ceremonies in Vancouver. As luck would have it, an awesome studio owned by John Frechette called Strapped is also located in Jackson Hole. Fortunately, these two forces came together and a partnership was formed!

John Frechette has a unique product line of handmade fused glass jewelry and accessories, such as cuff link sets, and even housewares! Frechette launched Strapped Belts®, a fused glass products store, in 2008 as a result of life's twists and turns. After his employer went bankrupt, he was "Strapped". Strapped for cash and strapped for a job. Starting with fused and kiln-formed glass belt buckles, Strapped hit the ground running and demand for the accessories line quickly allowed for expansion into rings.

Hailey Duke began skiing at the age of 2 on Dollar Mountain in Idaho is one of the 22 athletes on the 2010 Olympic Alpine USA Ski Team. She is pictured (on the right) wearing: A Cobalt Blue Glass Ring, Cobalt Blue Rectangle Earrings and Wyoming Flag Belt Buckle

  • 2008: Back to back Europa Cup slalom wins (Lenggries, GER)

  • 2008: U.S. Championships slalom silver
  • 2007: U.S. Championships slalom bronze
  • 2007: 56th to 7th in first ever Europa Cup
  • 4th in 2007 NorAm SL standings (1 win)

Megan McJames - has raced six World Cup Giant Slalom races and one Slalom race in 2010, and she is ranked 37th in the World Cup 2010 Giant Slalom standings. She also began skiing at the ripe old age of 2!!  She is pictured (center) wearing Grafitti Earrings, Large Square Rings, & Preppy Belt Buckle.
Career Highlights Include:
  • 2010 Olympic Team Member
  • 2009: Personal best 14th in Soelden GS
  • 2008 NorAm GS champion
  • First World Cup points in '07 (28th - Cortina GS)
  • 2007 NorAm giant slalom runnerup (2 wins)
  • 2006 NorAm overall, super, GS champion (3 wins)
  • 6th in combined at '06 Junior Worlds
  • Former National Development Systems athlete
Sarah Schleper is known as the hardest working mommy in the business, she is working on her 4th Olympics!  She's also probably the only member of the U.S. roster who says, this is her last Olympics, meaning she's going to win - that's all.  She is pictured left wearing Solid Earrings, Large Square Rings, & Jackson Hole Tram Belt Buckle.
Career Highlights include:
  • Olympics: 1998 '02, '06, '10; Worlds; '01, '03, '05, '09
  • 2009: First races since March of '06
  • 10th in slalom at the '06 Olympics
  • First World Cup win to close '05 (SL, Lenzerheide)
  • Fourth U.S. slalom crown in 2005
  • 2nd in SL at '04 World Cup Finals
  • '97 Juniors Worlds SL silver medal
The Snow King Resort in Jackson Hole is the setting of the photo shoot that took place after the girls were blinged out to the max with Strapped merchandise.  These ladies will hit the slopes on the 24th (tonight!!!) -26th in the final days of the 2010 games in Slalom and Giant Slalom. Be sure to tune in and cheer them on as they work their magic.  We wish our girls the best of luck and may John's Strapped bling be replaced by Gold, Silver and Bronze!
