Looking at the Sky on Friday #39

When I saw the sun hiding behind this dark cloud, I was mesmerized by the rays that were sneaking out. It reminded me of when my four year old son plays hide and seek with his sister and hides behind a tree. She will pretend that she can't see him even though his arms and legs are clearly visible on either side of the tiny tree.  I pulled over on the side of the road to pull out my camera and snap this photo only to remember that I had taken my camera out over the weekend after photographing my nephew's birthday party.  I've never put it back inside the van.  I grabbed my trusty cell phone and snapped this shot.  It wasn't as impressive on the cell phone as it was in person, but it's all I've got for you this week.  Maybe next week I will remember to put my camera back in my vehicle and get some impressive shots.  But, please don't hold your breath waiting on me.  ;)Powered by MckLinky

Do You Text While Driving?!?!

Warning:  Content May Not Be Suitable For Younger Viewers
Driving is a huge responsibility to anyone. As a mother, I not only hold my life in my hands, but the lives of my three innocent children as well. When I am driving, my focus should always be on the road. With children who are 6 (almost 7), 4, and (almost) 1 they can be a distraction in themselves at times when one needs a bottle or paci, the other wants a drink of my soda, or wants to listen to a certain song on the ipod! As if that weren't enough, my cell phone starts beeping that I have a text or even just a phone call.

I am not going to lie and say I have never texted, or checked a message from my phone while driving. I wish I could say that. But, after watching this powerful video I can say with certainty that I will not do it again! WOW!!! If you've not watched this clip, you can break away and do so now. It's a very powerful PSA that shows what could happen if you are distracted from the road for only seconds!  This could happen to anyone, not just a teenager.  It could happen to a mother with a van full of kids as she applies her lipstick on the way to school.  It can happen to a father with a truck full of ball players as he spills coffee on himself on the way to ball practice.

We should all take heed of this powerful warning and keep those cell phones stowed away for emergencies only while we are driving!    Thank you, Parent Talk Today for featuring this video.  It has touched my heart and left an image on my brain that I will not soon forget when the two small children are crying for their mommy and daddy to wake up!  I STILL have chill bumps!

Fun & Educational Entertainment For Your Kids

Thomas & Friends: Hop on Board Songs and Stories is available now from Lionsgate. This DVD contains two classic Thomas and Friends Episodes as well as a bonus sing along, "It's Great To Be An Engine". "Thomas' Anthem," "Let's Have A Race," "Gone Fishing" are also included on this sing along DVD. The kids had fun watching the steam engine cloud bounce across the words to the songs on this one. Since Shelby is just learning how to read, she thought it was cool that she could read the words to the song. The other two who are four and one just loved dancing to the songs. This is great entertainment for the young ones and not too bad to bop to as you do the dishes.

Thomas and Friends: Percy and The Bandstand is 40 minutes of educational fun entertainment for your children. If you have a Thomas the Train fan in your house, this DVD should be a part of your collection. Join Thomas, Percy, and friends with Sir Topham Hatt for a hot-air balloon ride, a top-secret birthday party, a special bandstand surprise, and more! Percy and the Bandstand is enhanced for wonderful fun and entertainment with special features as a Songs of Sodor game and three read alongs. Your young children won't be disappointed in this DVD. It lives up to the quality expectations you expect from this educational series.

Emily Update

We visited the doctor yesterday since Emily contracted a runny nose, cough, and slight fever over the weekend. The doctor came in the room and immediately started sniffing the air.  I began to get a bit worried and thought back to my morning routine and remembered adding my deodorant as well as a splash of Bath and Body Works' scented body mist.  He walked to Emily and began to sniff her and said that he smelled something.  He then proceeds to look in her ears, nose, and mouth.  He then removes her diaper and looks there.  By this time, I'm a bit perplexed.  This is normal when he does a routine physical, but she was there for flu like symptoms.  I was just hoping it wasn't a repeat of the RSV she suffered from last winter.

He then asks me she has vomited as of late.  I thought back to last Thursday when she threw up on my blackberry (don't worry, the blackberry is okay).  Yes, I told him she had and in fact she was eating some snacks when she did so, I believe.  Yes, Friday was when she started to feel bad.

The doctor then proceeds to tell me that she has an unmistakable "foreign body" smell.  I am sure that the puzzled look on my face only added to the oddness of this situation because I hadn't the slightest clue as to what he was talking about.  She smelled normal to me.  But, he proceeded to explain that sometimes, especially children her age, learning to pick up small objects, as well as self feeding will "get something stuck in a hole". He might as well have told me she swallowed a barcode scanner

No, this is NOT a JOKE and I am not kidding.  The diagnosis that our pediatrician gave us was that she has a "foreign body" infection.  In fact, the nurse came and and confirmed that indeed she smelled "the smell" as she checked her temperature.  She's on a routine antibiotic.  What we hope is that the antibiotic will cause the inflammation to subside thus releasing the "foreign body".  What he suspects is that she threw up and possibly a piece of food is lodged in her sinus cavity.  My concern is that I do not smell this "smell" that she is omitting so how am I to know if she is well?!

Fast forward to yesterday afternoon as we're waiting to pick up her sister from school, Emily becomes very fussy and almost inconsolable.  She is NEVER this way, so I knew something must be wrong.  Suddenly she projectile vomits all in the (new) van!  I clean her up and as I am doing so I find a piece of grass/hay in the vomit. I got a bit excited because I hoped this might be the answer to our problem.  I get her all cleaned up, she plays for a bit and becomes inconsolable again.  Repeat...more vomit.  This vomit doesn't include any "foreign bodies" only the remnants of the mashed potatoes and chocolate pie she had for lunch.  *GAG*

So, now I am concerned that maybe this antibiotic might be upsetting her stomach.  She cries again for about 30 minutes and just as the kids are walking out of the building to meet us at the van, she falls asleep.  Whew!
So, we made it home with her and she was fine the rest of the night.  She still has a runny nose and cough.  But, I really believe that this is probably contributed to her big brother sharing a virus that he had last week.

As far as the "foreign body" is concerned,  if it's still there when we visit the doctor for her one year check up, then we'll take invasive measures to try to find it.  Fingers crossed that it was the grass that was in her vomit.  We'll see.

In the meantime, has anyone else ever heard of such a crazy diagnosis, or is is just my CrAzY family that this has happened to?!?!

Sort n' Learn Pelican Toy Testing

Picking toys is not easy and there is a toy website called ebeanstalk, dedicated to selecting good, safe baby toys. BUT they need help from moms like me to help pick the toys. My family was chosen as a toy tester for a toy called Sort n' Learn Pelican from Tiny Love, who makes great developmental toys. My little Emily who will be one on the 2nd of September was the lucky toy tester selected from my family. This is quite a unique toy. It has three different language modes. It also has three different skill modes. Your child can learn shapes, colors, and listen to fun sounds as they practice important, fundamental skills. It's very colorful, and eye-catching. My little one was immediately attracted to it. The only downfall I found to the toy was the the top (beak) seemed to detach rather easily. She pulled it open very quickly and it came off. I am most certain that this was done to prevent it from being pulled open and broken as it does easily re-attach. Emily did enjoy this toy and so did her 4 year old brother who tried to explain the shapes and colors to her as she played. I would definitely purchase this toy for my child. I can say with confidence that this toy has been kid tested and CrAzY Working Mom approved! Thanks, Tiny Love for a great product and thanks ebeanstalk for the opportunity to test this awesome toy.

It's that time of the year again. I am sending out a request for my fellow bloggers. I know that many of my readers have children and you already save and use your box tops. I am pleading to those readers who do not have children and would not mind taking a minute or two to look through your cabinets to help Shelby help her school and maybe win a prize for herself and her fellow classmates.

Each Box Top coupon is worth 10¢ for our school. You can clip Box Tops coupons from hundreds of your favorite products. You can find more information here. If you would like to help me please leave a comment, or e-mail me at tishblack (at) gmail (dot) com.

Much love to all of you and thanks in advance for those of you who I know will help us out!

She's Walking Folks!

It looks like baby (I know at some point I'm going to have to stop calling her a baby) Emily Grace has decided that she wants to be upright and has taken to walking! She is really moving quickly on her feet. I am so proud of her. She is getting less timid daily and is doing more walking by the day. She really amazes me at how quickly she catches on to things. She discovers she can do more things each day. I used to be very scared about her being on the couch because she was fearless about just crawling off the edge. Now she will back down feet first on her belly and does it very swiftly and safely. She is also still crawling off and on the fire place. That has always been a big no-no at our house even with the older kids just because one false move and we could have a trip to the ER. She is very cautious when she is on the bricks, but when she is told NO to get away she will usually comply. That's not to say that she will stay away once she gets down, but she does at least listen when she is told no, right?

Can We Fix It - Our Lunch That Is?!

Can We Fix It? That is the catch phrase of the famous (or infamous, depending on your age) show, Bob The Builder. Having a four year old son, we're all to familiar with this phrase around our house. Being as he has his own tool set (hubby told me this was a bad idea, and in hindsight I do agree) Bob The Builder is right up his alley. Since he is in a daycare pre-school they are not allowed to take his lunch, but this lunchbox can be used for other things such as carrying his bob the builder collectible vehicles, or other die cast cars, his video games, and the like. This 3 disk DVD, lunchbox set is now available from Lionsgate and HIT Entertainment.

Included in the set are the following DVDs:

The Big Game - In this action packed DVD, Bob's friend and co-worker, Wendy is the star of the show. She is one of my favorite characters so I was delighted with this DVD. The 45-minute feature includes four stories plus an additional four mini-adventures. Wendy oversees construction in the soccer field, oversees re-surfacing of the road and fixes the tennis court as well as bailing out Bob on a flubbed up painting job. This was by far my favorite of the three in this collection.

Can We Fix It
- This DVD contains 45 minutes and four episodes including Bob's Barn Raising, Mucky Muck, Wendy Plays Golf, and Magnetic Lofty. As with most other episodes in the Bob The Builder series, these episodes teach children team building, strong friendships, and self esteem. These are important fundamentals in early development and I know as a parent, I can use all of the help I can get. Thank you, Bob the Builder for your help!

Celebrate with Bob - This DVD encourages children to have respect for others and take responsibility seriously. There’s a dance contest, a surprise birthday party, a messy office and a broken computer all contained in these four episodes: Bob's Birthday, Bob's Big Surprise, Bob's Big Day Off, and Buffalo Bob.

Happy Birthday, Nephews!

It was a bit early, but in order for the entire family to be able to make it my sister celebrated Dominique's birthday this weekend. What a fun time we had spending with them on Sunday afternoon. They had a swimming pool set up for the kids that was the perfect size as well as some pretty cool sprinkler toys. We were there just a little over two hours and I took almost 300 photos. I guess it is pretty safe to say that I had a good time as well. The hardest part about snapping photos of kids playing in water is to keep the expensive digital gadgetry in the dry! I I might need to check into getting some best diet supplements since I had cake on Saturday and Sunday. To see more photos from Dominique's party, you can click here.

Saturday afternoon we celebrated my nephew, Dillon's birthday. He had a Mario birthday cake baked by my mother in law. This thing was so life like, I felt like I was 12 again sitting in front of my Nintendo for hours! My mother in law has an awesome talent in making cakes. She makes the cakes for all of our celebrations. She created my wedding cake, and has created every single birthday cake for our children. It's an honor for her master talent to be put to good use. Thanks, Memaw for making those birthdays that much more special with your awesome talents!! We had fun with Dillon and his brother Dakota. We got Dillon the new Wii Resort game and he was gracious enough to play with the kids. They had tons of fun and it was nice getting to spend some time with the in-laws.

Overall we had a fun-filled weekend! It was nice getting to spend time with the family and the weather was beautiful, so it made being outdoors that much more fun. I hope you all had a great weekend. We're looking forward to another great week back at school. I suppose I will be taking little Emily to the doctor today. She has been running fever, coughing, and sneezing with a runny nose all weekend. Of course since Tyler was sick last week, I am sure that she has probably contracted some form of what he had. Since she was sick with RSV last winter, her likelihood of getting it again is very high. Tyler's illness was only viral so there was nothing that we could do for him other than cough medicine and Tylenol. If the same rings true for Emily I am doing all that I can do for her. But, I am afraid that if I don't take her to the doctor, she might end up getting worse and I will be to blame. I'd rather be safe than sorry! I will update later on her condition.

Shelby's New Do (AGAIN)

Shelby went from this:
to this on Friday:
She has been saying for a while that she wanted her hair cut "short". Last time we cut it, it was pretty short. She plead her case and talked her father and I into letting her go a bit shorter than last time she had it cut. I spoke of creative control for young girls back when she wanted her hair cut before. I decided that hair was not a battle I wanted to fight too much as long as it was a reasonable request. Who wants to run marathons on treadmills? It will do you no good. I must say that when the first cut was made in the back, it looked VERY short. I just knew my husband would have a fit. But, upon seeing the finished product, he was okay with it. It was a bit shorter than he had anticipated, but over all we are all happy with her new hair cut. The "bob" is a cute look for her and she's very excited about it, so that is what matters in the end. She is stoked about going to school tomorrow so everyone can see her new hair do.

I Love You, Man on DVD

I Love You, Man is now available on DVD and High Definition Blue Ray (for those of you lucky enough for this capability).  This movie is rated R, so keep that in mind when pucrhasing. You'll want to watch it when the kiddos are in bed.  But believe me, this comedy is worth the wait.  Jason Segel cracked me up in Forgetting Sara Marshal and doesn't disappoint with his performance in this unforgettable "bro-mantic" comedy! This is a classic story of a guy with no male friends who finds himself in need of a best man. After a series of awkward outings, Peter (Paul Rudd) finally bonds with fun-loving Sydney. Rudd and Segel’s “bro-mance” will have you rolling with laughter as they experience what it truly means to be a friend.  I Love You, Man is available now from Paramount Home Entertainment.

Barney - The Learning and Fun Never End

How would you like to purchase a DVD and receive a book as well? Well, if that sounds like a fun idea then I have great news for you. Barney Book Fair is not only a great DVD but it also comes with a book for your little ones to enjoy. Since we do stories at bedtime, this was wonderful news because not only did we have a fun, educational DVD for the kids to watch during the day and a bedtime story to boot! In the DVD, Barney and friends decide to have a book fair and realize that reading books can take you into adventures you never knew existed. Let your children explore these new worlds with Barney, Baby Bop, and friends in this all new 50 minute DVD from Lionsgate and HIT Entertainment.

I really enjoyed watching Sing & Dance With Barney because it revisited some "old" friends from Barney past. You see, my niece who is now almost seven watched Barney as a toddler. She was glued to the television when the big purple dinosaur sang such favorites as All The Raindrops, Baby Bop Hop, A Camping We Will Go, and of course I Love You. When I put this DVD in for my children I was delighted to see the children who I enjoyed watching all those years ago. Of course they are all grown up now and sang a few of the old favorites I remember from "back in the day". It's definitely a fun DVD and we enjoyed it as well as the CD Set that travels along with us and sits in my disk changer in the van and is fun for those "cranky" moments that we tend to get while traveling! This DVD is available now through Lionsgate.

This picture is a bit dark but what can you expect with a cell phone? I took this photo when I was at the park with the kids a few weeks ago (camera-less!!!). I thought since the skies were a bit ominous it would be neat to get Tyler on the slide with the skies and flags behind him. Unfortunately he would not cooperate and pose nor stand still long enough for me to get a shot. So, this is what you get...an effort at creativity! I can't wait to see what you all have up your sleeve this week! Powered by MckLinky

The First Day of First Grade - The REST of the Story

Today was the big day. Shelby started first grade. She was so excited last night as we sat out her outfit, accessories, shoes, and got her back pack all loaded down with the seemingly endless papers filled out by yours truly. She laid down last night and informed me that she could not go to sleep. When she closed her eyes, they just opened back on their own.

I was up at 4am with her four year old brother who is STILL sick. He's got some sort of viral infection, I suppose. We went to the doctor on Monday. We're alternating Tylenol and Motrin every four hours. The fever has been getting over 102°. He's got a cough and runny nose now. The poor little guy just has NOT been feeling well. We were up early this morning, so I brewed a pot of coffee and about had it finished before hubby and the girls even got out of bed.

Shelby woke up at around 6 and was ready to put on her clothes and get her hair fixed just right. She was so cute and so grown up. Much different than my little girl who wanted her mom to do everything for her last year (see picture on the right) as she prepared for her first day of Kindergarten. She has changed so much since then. She's become so independent and outspoken. She's also become quite the fashionista. She never ceases to amaze me daily with her antics!

We left the house in what I thought would be plenty of time to get her to school in order for me to walk her to her class. As it turns out, some pranksters let all of the air out of the tires on the school buses in town, so there were only three buses running. Most parents ended up bringing their children to school so it was a mad house. Parking was a nightmare. I had to park at a nearby grocery store and walk to the school! No need for searching for diet pills that work, I did enough walking to supplement a week's worth! We were still late getting there. I'm never late for anything in fact we were never late a single day last year. I was never more embarrassed to get her late to the first day of school! We were only minutes late, so it wasn't such a big deal, but I can't stand to be late, so I was angry at myself. Especially due to the fact that we'd been up since 4am!!!
Shelby had a wonderful day at school. She got to meet some new friends and reconnected with old ones. I got to see some parents that I'd not seen since last year. All in all it was a good first day for the both of us, I suppose. Tomorrow, I believe that we will be at school waiting in the parking lot for them to turn on the lights!

New Fun

We got a new Wii game at our house. Wii Resort is the newest get out of your seat game from the geniuses at Nintendo. My kids LOVE this game. It is pretty fun. There are lots of different games, 12 I believe. You can sword fight, jet ski, shoot a bow and arrow or basketball, fly an airplane, and even row a boat. The great thing about this game is that it comes with an addition to your WiiMote called the Wii MotionPlus. This makes your movements in the game much more precise than the Wii Sports game. The downside to this addition, which fits nice and snug on the WiiMote and comes with it's own rubber sleeve is that if you choose to play more than one player, you'll have to get a new Wii Motion Plus for each controller. We paid $20 for the WiiMotion Plus sensor so it's not too pricey, considering one does come with the game. Hopefully going forward most of the Wii games will use this advanced technology!

Win a Hannah Montana - The Movie DVD!!!

Today is the day that young girls have been waiting for since the debut of the movie, Hannah Montana. It is FINALLY available on Disney DVD today. The movie stars Miley Cirus and the cast from the hit television show in the first full length feature film. Miley goes back to her roots at the demand of her father. She goes back home to Tennessee where she learns that living a double life might be something she wants to leave behind. Could this be the end of Hannah Montana?

This movie is an awesome family movie. Of course, my six year old daughter LOVED it, but my four year old son, myself and my husband did as well. It is a great movie with a lot of heart felt moments, and great messages for children and adults alike. My favorite band, Rascal Flatts has a cameo and sing a couple of songs as well as Taylor Swift. The sound track for this film is awesome including The Climb, The Hoedown Throwdown, and Butterfly.

This movie is available in a Three-Disc Blu-Ray Hi-Def Combo Pack, Two-Disc DVD Set and Single-Disc DVD. There are also a slew of extras including bloopers, deleted scenes, music videos, and a step-by-step "how to" section in learning the Hoedown Throwdown.

I can assure you that if you know any young girl, she will want to watch this movie (if she hasn't already). She will more than likely ask to own it. If she does and you haven't secured your own copy, you're in luck. I am giving away a copy to one of my lucky readers! That's right, folks you can get your very own copy of the Hannah Montana DVD.

It's official, I am a soccer Mom"

Shelby will start 1st grade on Wednesday. It is bittersweet for me. I have enjoyed spending time with her this summer but, I am also ready for some down time. Shelby has been a big help at the office with Emily. Since Emily is crawling, pulling up, and almost walking she is more than a hand full to keep up with while trying to accomplish anything resembling work! Emily will begin daycare after she turns one (on the second of September). My list of "to do" things just seems to get longer. From searching for refrigerator water filters at home to that darned printer ink cartridge at the office. It just seems that lately there are not enough hours in the day. I am constantly trying to play "catch up" with my blog, and trying to keep facebook updated through my twitter "tweets". It's a constant whirlwind, but I guess I wouldn't know what to do otherwise!

Last week I got in my truck on the way to drop Tyler off at daycare and had a bit of a time getting it to start. Once it did, it wasn't acting right. It was stalling a bit and then an alarm sounded and all of my gauges quit working. I had no speedometer, oil, or gas guages and the windshield wipers didn't work either. I called my "rescue" man otherwise known as my husband. He advised me to bring it to the office and he'd look at it. As it turns out he had to take it to our mechanic to look at it who in turn advised us to take it to the Dodge Dealership. We were told there that they could fix it and that it would take them at least five days before they could get to it. FIVE DAYS without a vehicle. You have to be kidding me?!?!

Brien half jokingly asked them what they would give him for it and they told him that it would qualify for the "cash for clunkers" program if we bought a new one. He scanned the lot and found this:
Needless to say after the normal "haggling" and such I drove it home. I LOVE IT!!! It has made my life so much easier! It has the keyless entry and on the key, I can push buttons to open either passenger slide door as well as the back hatch. That alone is worth every single penny we will pay for it. It is a Chrysler Town and Country with lots of room inside. I went from a four door Dodge Ram pick up truck to a four door mini-van! So, I would say this makes it official...I am a "soccer mom" even though none of my kids play soccer.

Now Available on Disney DVD

We saw Race To Witch Mountain back in June at the theater and I mentioned in this post that I would definitely be adding this one to our DVD collection upon it's release. It's here and we have watched it several times since it's arrival to our home. This re-make of a Disney Classic is a full of action, thrills, and some very cool special effects. The boy is ran over by a SUV type vehicle full of federal agents and instead of flattening the boy, the vehicle is crushed. The girl can move things with her mind as well as speak to animals. Dewayne (oh so hot) "The Rock" Johnson is a taxi cab driver who has to get these two special kids to their destination for a wad of cash. Although it's been years since I've seen the original, I am certain that this one surpasses. It's a fun movie and I'm sure that even if you didn't have kids you would enjoy this one.

This movie is available now from Disney DVD on on Three-Disc Blu-Ray Hi-Def Combo Pack, Two-Disc DVD Set and Single-Disc DVD with extras including Bloopers, Deleted Scenes, and much more!

To celebrate the 10 year anniversary of The Tigger Movie, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment presents a new, two-disc edition DVD available now! I remember watching this movie with my nephew who is now 11. He loved to watch this movie...over, and over, and over! It was before I had children and I loved spending time with him and he was so funny because at the end of the movie when he saw Tigger's friends presenting him with a locket with a photo inside he would shout that he wanted to watch it again! He knew when the end was coming and was ready to start all over.

This is a great movie for today's society to show that families are made of many different dynamics. Tigger sets out on an adventure to find other "Tiggers" after he feels left out from his friends when preparing for a long winter. Through his adventures, Tigger realizes that families come in all shapes and sizes and that his Hundred Acre Friends are more than just his friends, but also his family!

The Tigger Movie 10th Anniversary Edition includes all of the beloved bonus features from the original edition plus two all new-to-DVD episodes from the popular TV series “The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.

Delgo

Now available from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment on DVD, Delgo. This movie is brilliant and teaches many valuable lessons including responsibility, friendship, and unity! This CGI movie is filled with many familiar voices including Freddie Prinze Jr. (Scooby Doo), Jennifer Love Hewitt (“Ghost Whisperer”), Val Kilmer (The Doors), Chris Kattan (“Saturday Night Live”), Kelly Ripa (“Live with Regis and Kelly”), Anne Bancroft (The Graduate) in her final film appearance, Lou Gossett Jr. (An Officer and a Gentleman) and Burt Reynolds (Smokey and the Bandit) to name a few.

It's something different than the typical prince and princess movie and we enjoyed the change. It has a bit of a Romeo and Juliet quality to it and with it being a PG movie it is safe to watch with the entire family. If you're looking for the next "movie night" DVD, this one would be a great one.

Tyler's Birthday Party Update

On Sunday Tyler turned 4. We had a great time at his birthday party with all of our family and friends. The swimming was fun. The weather was a bit muggy, but over all it was tolerable. Tyler got everything he asked for to outfit himself as his favorite Transformer, Bumblebee:

He had lots of fun and even had time to snuggle up with Mom in the swimming pool.  Some day I will look back on this moment and wish that he was still willing to do this, especially with friends around:
Overall, I am certain a good time was had by all.  My niece proclaimed after the party that she wished that she could have the whole day back because she had so much fun.  A nephew also stated that it was, and I quote, "The best day of my life".  THIS makes it all worth while.  I am so glad we have family and friends near by who can celebrate such joyous occasions with us.  I'll leave you with one last shot of the day and if you want to see more, you can click this link and it will take you to my Facebook photos.
The big guy wanted blueberry pancakes for breakfast and volunteered to cook them. So, with a teeny tiny bit of assistance from his mom (that's me) he made the world's most delicious pancakes for breakfast!

"Shoo Wee Momma, You Farted!"

The children began to identify the flavors by their color: Red was cherry, Yellow was lemon, Green was lime, and Orange was of course orange.

Finally the teacher gave them all HONEY lifesavers. None of the children could identify the taste. The teacher said, 'I will give you all a clue. It's what your mother may sometimes call your father.'

One little girl looked up in horror, spit her lifesaver out and yelled, 'Oh my God! They're ass-holes!

The teacher had to leave the room!

This story makes me laugh because it reminds me so much of my son! He always says the first thing that pops into his head no matter how embarrassing or uncouth it may be.

As we were wheeling and dealing with a car salesman today, Tyler comes up to me and says, very loudly..."Shoo Wee Momma, you farted." Thank goodness I hadn't because I would have been completely and utterly embarrassed. I told him to stop saying that and he continued to get louder and proclaim that I DID fart because he could smell it. Finally I used the 'ole Elementary school tactic to shut him up. I admitted that it was not my fart he was smelling, but his stinky upper lip. He stopped, puckered up and began to sniff. This preoccupied him enough that he forgot the whole charade within minutes and I wanted to tell him after the salesman had left the room that you don't ever say things like that in the presence of others. It's not nice and it makes people uncomfortable and embarrassed. I am not sure that a four year old can grasp that concept, but hopefully next time that I really DO let one slip he won't announce it to the world! *LOL*

I don't want to be Pregnant!!!

Four years ago today, I can tell you that I was more than ready to NOT be pregnant!  Being pregnant in Arkansas during the summer was a nightmare.  It was hot and I was miserable.  I was ready to carry my baby in my arms and not by belly.  I couldn't wait to see that precious face.  Brien and I had still not decided on a name for this baby boy.  I wanted Tyler Matthew and he wanted Matthew Tyler.

I remember the worry of bringing home another baby into our household.  Would I be able to handle the stress of two children?  I have been raising a girl for the last three years, how would it be raising a boy?  Am I really cut out for this Mommy stuff?!  All of these questions were running through my mind.  Okay, I know it was a bit late to be thinking of this, right?  But, instead of getting precious sleep the night before I was to be at the hospital at 5:30 to begin the induction of my second child I was lying in bed with these sort of questions running through my mind.

Obviously everything turned out okay and although raising a boy is quite different than a girl, the differences have their pros and cons but I would not have it any other way!  I love my little man.  He gives the greatest hugs and kisses.  He loves his mommy "way far top of the moon and back".  I cannot imagine our family without him!

Tomorrow we will celebrate Tyler's 4th birthday with family and close friends.  We're having a back yard pool party with a Transformer's Revenge of the Fallen Theme.  We're all looking forward to it.  Tyler's got some great surprises in store.  He's going to be super excited when he receives his gifts!  For today, I'm busy with party prep.  House cleaning, laundry, last minute shopping (for food, etc), setting up tables and chairs in the back yard, making treat boxes, sacking up gifts, and I'm sure there are many more things that will pop up and cause me much stress between now and tomorrow.

In the meantime I hope your day is grand and that you'll stop by tomorrow and wish Tyler a very happy 4th Birthday!  :)

This shot was taken last week with my cell phone as I drove down the road. Dangerous, yes I know but I was so captivated by the massive clouds in the sky that I couldn't resist those fluffy whites! I hope you enjoy. My visiting this week is likely to be limited due to the fact that my laptop is dead and will not take a charge. I guess I will try to go next week and see if there is some place in town that can repair it. The hole that the power cord plugs in has come loose and the power cord will no longer make a connection. I have lots of pictures that I have not uploaded to be printed and are no longer on my memory card, so it is imperative that I get it fixed, eventually.

I hope you all have a great weekend. Tyler will be turning FOUR on Sunday, so it will be a busy one for us because we're having his Transformer backyard pool party on Sunday evening. No need for a fancy tuxedo vest when you come to our parties. It's BYOS (bring your own swimsuit!) I'm hoping for nice weather and lots of fun for all. What are your plans for the weekend?!?!

Happy Friday, everyone.
