The Momma Test

I was out walking with my 3-year-old son. He picked up something off of the ground and started to put it in his mouth. I took the item away from him and I asked him not to do that. 'Why?' he asked. 'Because it's been on the ground; you don't know where it's been, it's dirty, and probably has germs,' I replied..

At this point, my son looked at me with total admiration and asked, 'Mama, how do you know all this stuff? You are so smart.' I was thinking quickly.. 'All moms know this stuff. It's on the Mama Test. You have to know it, or they don't let you be a Mama.'

We walked along in silence for 2 or 3 minutes, but he was evidently pondering this new information. 'Oh.....I get it!' he beamed, 'So if you don't pass the test you have to be the dad.'

*(This was not an actual conversation between Tyler and myself, it was an e-mail forward, but I loved it so much I just had to post it!)

Looking at the Sky on Friday - Driving By

This shot was taken as we drove to Louisiana last weekend. I loved the setting sun with the sliver of a moon above! I can't wait to see what you all come up with this week. It's been a long week, as my best friend lost her grandmother this week and I spent a few days with her during the visitation and funeral. I enjoyed the time I got to spend with her, but it was unfortunate circumstances. I hope you all have a great Friday and I can't wait to visit my fellow LATSOF friends!

Beer Summit - Teachable Moment

Hey, let's all load up and head to the White House today for a "teachable moment" at the "Beer Summit.  That's right, my friends for those of you who live under a rock and haven't heard the whole story about the Cambridge University Professor who had a big case of diarrhea of the mouth who went head to head with a cop who had a case of the big head with a badge topped off with a name-calling president I am sure your favorite search engine could get you up to speed.  Meanwhile, the prez has invited the two headline makers to the White House for what is being labeled the Beer Summit and dubbed a "teachable moment" as to show that if you realize that a mistake has been made, you should sit down and have a beer with the president!

I read a profile status update from a pre-school teacher that said, "Everyday i try to teach children that you should not call people names...... So what do you say when our country's "leaders" get on television and call someone "STUPID". I think she summed it up well. I think all three parties acted with no regard to the outcome of the situation. They probably all showed their true colors and now they are trying to candy coat it. What's done is done. Apologies are good and I believe that we should teach our children the importance of them, but we must first teach them to love one another.  My children hear the word "stupid" and they think it is a bad word.  We do not call one another stupid.  It is very important for me for them to not say "stupid" or "shut up".  They have to learn to respect others as well as themselves and I believe this starts with teaching them how to use their words.  Frankly, I think all three parties involved in this situation acted horribly and I hope that this "beer summit" puts an end to this whole ghastly situation as I'm at my wit's end hearing about it.
Now, on to Michael Jackson...will this EVER not be a lead story on a newscast???

So You Think You Can Dance Get Fit on DVD

One of my favorite shows is So You Think You Can Dance (SYTYCD).  My kids and I love to watch this show and many times when a song comes on that we love to dance to, we will get up and do some pretty funky dancing ourselves!  When I saw the new work out videos from our favorite SYTYCD stars, I knew this would be a fun way to get my family up and moving and motivate myself a bit to do so!

SYTYCD Get Fit : Cardio Funk turns up the heat as Courtney Galiano puts viewers through their paces on the Disco floor, Travis Wall (one of my favorite dancers, ever!) gets hearts pumping in a Contemporary routine and Lauren Gottlieb’s Hip Hop dance works up a sweat. This 90 minutes of calorie-burning is full of body sculpting moves with a warm-up and cool down session,  a bonus workout, behind-the-scenes interviews with the dancers and more.  This was by far my favorite video, and I am sure it had a lot to do with the fact that Travis had a routine.  I also love the hip hop routiene from Lauren.
SYTYCD Get Fit : Tone and Groove This DVD contains three more amazing routines including Stephen “Twitch” Boss as he takes you through a Hip Hop routine, You can try to make your abs look as delicious as Dmitry Chaplin with a fun the Cha Cha and then stretch it out with Katee Shean doing Jazz. (Jazz Hands everyone!!!)  This video also has a 90 minute warm up and cool down session with  behind the scenes interviews with the the dancers and much more.

Ruby Tuesday

This photo was shot on the top floor of the Bass Pro Shop we visited while in Shreveport, Louisiana this weekend. We had the pleasure of doing some shopping over at The Boardwalk. Our first stop was Joe's Crab Shack, where the waiter gave me crabs. (See a few posts below for explanation.) For more Ruby Tuesday photos, click the badge below to visit Mary.

A Security Alarm Right at Your Fingertips

I got this information via e-mail today and I thought it was worth posting here as I had not thought of this myself before. For those of you who have a key less entry remote for your car, keep reading. At night you should put your car keys beside your bed. If you hear a noise outside your home or someone trying to get in your house, just press the panic button for your car. The alarm will be set off, and the horn will continue to sound until either you turn it off or the car battery dies.

This tip came from a neighborhood watch coordinator. Next time you come home for the night and you start to put your keys away, think of this, it's a security alarm system that you probably already have and requires no installation. Test it. It will go off from most everywhere inside your house and will keep honking until your battery runs down or until you reset it with the button on the key fob chain. It works if you park in your driveway or garage If your car alarm goes off when someone is trying to break into your house, odds are the burglar rapist won't stick around. After a few seconds all the neighbors will be looking out their windows to see who is out there and sure enough the criminal won't want that. And remember to carry your keys while walking to your car in a parking lot. The alarm can work the same way there. This is something that should really be shared with everyone. Maybe it could save a life or a sexual abuse crime.

I just thought I would pass along some friendly advice.  If it helps one person then it was worth re-posting.  Happy Monday!

My Waiter Gave Me Crabs...

My husband, Brien and I had the pleasure of visiting a Joe's Crab Shack this weekend for the first time.  We both enjoyed it.  I danced with the staff to the Cha Cha Slide.  I think I only slightly embarrassed my husband.  One of my favorite reality shows is "The Deadliest Catch" where the crewmen of crab fishing boats risk their lives to gather crab from the Bering Sea for lucky folks like us to eat.  It was quite comical to watch us (first timers) try to figure out how to get the succulent meat from that horrid shell.  It was quite delicious.  After I had already finished only a small portion of my massive bucket of seafood with potatoes and corn, the waiter came over and showed us how to break the leg so that the meat comes out in one, nice scrumptious piece.  Thanks for that, dude.

We had a wonderful time while in Louisiana for two days. It was a nice break from the monotony of trying to find affordable health insurance and the other woes of owning a small business.   We visited the Boardwalk and did some shopping.  Brien got to visit his favorite store, The Bass Pro Shop.  He didn't like it as much as the one in Springfield, but it was good enough for him to fill up a cart!  We had a nice break from the kids and spent some quality time with one another.  That is always nice.  The kiddos were in good hands with Brien's Mom and Dad.  They love staying.  In fact, Tyler was reluctant to come home.  We had to bribe him by telling him we'd bought him some things!  He was ready to go back after he got the goods.

I was ready to be back home, yesterday.  I did miss my kids quite terribly.  My best friend lost her grandma this morning, so I am going to visit with her and her family in a bit.  Please keep Becca and her family in your prayers.  They've had a rough week.  I love you, Bec and I hope you know that.

Happy Sunday, all.

Conversations Overheard

As I was making dinner Tuesday night, Emily was doing her regular routine. She was crawling in and out from under my feet from cabinet to cabinet playing in the pots and pans, and plastic bowl lids. Tyler saw her doing this and decided to join in on the fun. He went to Shelby's room and began to bring things from her play kitchen set, fake food, utensils, etc. Once Shelby saw him doing this she quickly joined in on the play. They had a full on kitchen right in the middle of the kitchen floor (as I tried to make a real dinner). Then the conversation ensued:

Shelby: Tyler I am going to the store. We have to make a list first.

Tyler: *bantering about what to put on the list* Eggs, milk, bread...we need everything. We can go when I finish cooking.

(I don't know what he was cooking if he needed everything...)

Shelby: Okay, I am going to get the babies ready. *She begins putting babies in "car seats".

Later on, I suppose they have already made it to the store when I hear Tyler firmly declare: "No, Shelby we cannot buy that. It is NOT on sale!"

This is the influence I've had on my children! *LOL*

I was so glad that I had just mowed the lawn over the weekend because we had torrential downpours Sunday night and into Monday. The ditch out front was spilling over it's Outer Banks. Monday night the hummingbirds were in full attack mode on one another trying to get the last little bit of "nectar" (sugar water) from my feeder! I had so much fun photographing them. As best I could count at one time as I swatted mosquitoes and tried to shoot those micro birds there were 10. At one time their little flapping wings sounded like an army buzzing around me. It was so amazing watching their aerobatics and their combat skills as well! I enjoyed it and got a couple of good shots out of the 80 or so that I took. If you scroll to this week's Wordless Wednesday you can see my favorite. As I shot this one, and the sky can be seen in the background I decided that I would take a break from my sunset pictures this week and post this one. The dreary sky in the background wasn't nearly as fun to capture as the fluttering hummingbirds on this night.

I am using a new Link List, McLinky this week. I have paid for a service through Mr Linky and it seems as of late that it is not working properly on Fridays so I am going to give this one a try, even a plus that it is free. I will most likely not renew my subscription to Mr Linky when it is out. Please feel free to visit this site and use it on your post as well if you're so inclined.

A Day At The Park

Those sporadic visits to the city park are the greatest. It's days like this that make it fun to be a mom to three wonderful children. We all have those days where we wonder what ever happened to our sanity. Sometimes it's fun to just go to the park with your kids and let loose. That's just what we did yesterday. As you can tell the kids had much fun. Emily loved to swing. Tyler and Shelby loved pushing her more than they did climbing, sliding, or running. It was great fun for me to enjoy the laughter and smiles of my children. Being a Mommy is the greatest job in the entire world. Although there are times when they make me want to pull out my hair the love that a mother has for her children is like no other in the world and I could not imagine my life without that love.

Twenty years and counting...Ellen or Bust!

In October, my best friend and I will be celebrating our twentieth anniversary. We have been friends since Elementary school. In the years that we have been friends, we have lived in the same town, different towns, and even different states. In fact, my best friend lives across the country from me now. Before the days of the internet, we would write letters back and forth to one another and include recorded cassette tapes for each other. We would mostly just talk about our lives and what was going on with our families. I can remember how excited I was when I would get a letter from Becca. It was such a treat. As the years went by, our means of communication changed, of course now that we are older, we have e-mail, Facebook, Blackberries, and such it is a bit easier to find out how Becca's day is going. But, it doesn't make the distance any easier.

I am married with three children and Becca lives with her St Bernard, Annabelle. I wish that Becca could bring Annabelle over after work every day and she could play with my kids and Oscar the wiener dog. Unfortunately, the 17 hour drive between her house and mine makes for limited visits for all involved. Our lives could not be any more different, but through it all we have always maintained our friendship. Above all, we have remained loyal and true to one another. I have known Becca longer than any other person outside of my family. Some day we hope to live closer to one another but for the time being we have to settle on the vacations she can take from work and come here to see her family (myself included). I have been to Maryland to see her twice, but with three children, a husband, dog, and a cat it's hard for me to get away to visit.

Since we will be celebrating our 20 years in October, we have decided to splurge and meet up for a long weekend. We both love Ellen DeGeneres and thought it would be kind of fun to be in her audience. What a better way to celebrate 20 years with your best friend than dancing with Ellen!?! So, what do you think??? Should we go for it??? Maybe Ellen, being the awesome person she is would read this and think...hey those girls should be on my show! I know she always gives away cool stuff to folks in the audience and I would LOVE to be a lucky recipient able to see her show live!!! But, more importantly spending a weekend with my B/F/F will be awesome!

Want to win an Iphone or a Wii AND find out about a great new product?!

Swaptree.com is site where you can trade your video games, books, DVDs and CDs, with other users, for free. The service is completely free, and you only pay for shipping. Swaptree even simplifies the mailing process, by providing you with a perfect postage label that can be printed right from your computer, so you never have to go to the post office.

Parents, you might be interested in Swaptree for obvious reasons. I know that as a mom of three I have experienced this with my children many times. You spend a lot of money on something that they REALLY want but then in two weeks they want something different. With the recession squeezing everyone a little tighter, we could all use a little more free in our life.

Swaptree.com is giving away 10 iPhones and 10 Wiis, in 10 days. Qualifying is free and as easy as sending out a tweet or joining their Facebook fan page. Full details can be found by clicking the banner.

I just got a new phone, but I really wanted an Iphone. The store that we went to in town isn't an authorized ipone dealer, I suppose and they didn't have them there. Rather than driving across town and going to the other store, I just settled for something different, but I would love to have an iphone. What a better way to get one than for...FREE! :) *crossing fingers* In the meantime I'm surfing Swaptree.com 'cause I know I am going to totally dig this one!!!

Reflections, I'll bet you can see yourself in those eyes!

Let me start out by saying THANK YOU to everyone who has sent me message and e-mails asking about my back. I am feeling much better now, and hopefully I will not have this happen again. I bought Emily a new car seat. I got her a seat that we can rear face for the next couple of months, until she turns a year old.

She is almost a year old!!!
Where on earth has the time gone?!?! I just can't believe it. My baby girl is babbling all of the time now, and is starting to repeat simple phrases. Yesterday she let go of the chair and took two steps to the couch. It won't be long now and she'll be all over the place and then we're all in trouble! She's also getting some hair now. This makes mommy very happy as she will hardly keep the head wraps on her head anymore. She pulls them off usually before I can even get them on her head. Hopefully when she gets a little hair I can clip then on and maybe she will leave them in place, although I am not getting my hopes too high because I don't feel like she is going to care much for bows.

Daily I am reminded of just how much this little girl is following in the steps of her big brother. She's not afraid of anything and will not back down from anyone! If she wants something she will do her best to get it no matter who or what she has to climb, pinch, or poke to get it. In the photo she is trying to get the glass of sweet tea that you see in the bottom corner of the photo. She has learned to flash that million dollar smile, bat those eye lashes over those crystal blue eyes and shake her head yes as I am shaking mine no. I know it will only be a matter of time before she's dating, driving, and searching for the best acne treatment. But for now I am enjoying my baby girl while I still can.

You might remember last week's photo that had an image that was similar to the outstretched arms. Well, I captured this image shortly after snapping last week's Looking at the Sky on Friday entry. I loved the way this one turned out. The colors in the sky this night right after the storm were amazingly vibrant and quickly changing. I snapped pictures the entire way to our destination! What fun. I took pictures of fireworks as well, but found these to be much more invigorating since it is all natural.

I hope you all have a great weekend! Don't forget to sign Mr Linky if you've posted a photo of the sky at your place. Apparently Mr Linky is not working. So just leave your link in a comment. My apologies for the confusion. We're all so glad you're playing along.

Conversations with Shelby

Shelby: I am pretty much going to be a Vegetarian.

Me: laughs out loud Shelby do you know what a vegetarian is???

Shelby:
Of course I do...someone who takes care of animals.

Brien: (I was laughing too hard at this point to respond) No, Shelby that's a veterinarian.

Shelby: Well, that's what I am talking about.

Brien: A vegetarian is someone who doesn't eat meat...only eats vegetables.

Shelby: Why in the world would someone want to do that?!?!

This girl is a mess! To read more conversations with this silly six year old, click here.

My morning started out normal but quickly changed...

This morning started out just as any other normal morning. I woke up, got dressed, got the kids dressed, hubby was out the door and off to work. I had my morning cup of coffee, minus the French Vanilla creamer because hubby ever so thoughtlessly used most of it up, but I made do. The kids and I went out to the truck and I began loading them starting with Emily (the ten month old) who is still in a carrier car seat. The base is strapped in the truck and as I twisted and swung her up into the truck (with 20" tires) I felt a sharp pain in my back that can only be described as someone slicing my back with a knife! This is when my normal morning changed drastically!

The pain was grueling and thankfully Emily was safely in her car seat and base. Thankfully the other two children are big enough that they can get into their own seats and buckle themselves. I stood beside the truck for quite sometime before I could muster the strength to move. It hurt to stand still. It hurt to move. It hurt to breathe. It hurt to cry, but I couldn't stop. I was trying to be strong because I didn't want my kids to be scared, but by golly it hurt. I've had three children and I tell you, this ranks right up there with the pain of childbirth!

I managed to get myself into the driver's seat and quickly realized as I reached up to start the truck that there was no way in he - double hockeysticks that I would be able to drive because I couldn't even lift my arms. I grabbed my handy dandy new blackberry and phoned my husband who could immediately sense the pain and anguish in my voice. He informed me that he would be home in a bit. While I sat in the driver's seat for what seemed like an eternity, my children were ever so good and quiet. I know they were worried. I tried to hold in the terror and pain that I was experiencing because I didn't want to alarm them. Once my hubby got home, that is when I really let loose and cried. He took me to his chiropractor. Unfortunately it had been over 4 years since I had been. I went for a series of visits when I was pregnant with Tyler because that boy has been a pain to me every since conception. *LOL*

After filling out Fifteen pages of information and signing 100 for privacy, insurance, and god knows what else because I just signed and did not read because I was in so much pain I was finally led back to see the doctor. I don't think that the receptionist knew exactly how much pain I was in. Maybe the mascara running down my cheeks and the distrought look on my face wasn't enough to clue her in. I know, procedures are procedures and everything has to be done in order to process a patient. Everyone at the clinic is super nice and they took very good care of me. After a series of X-Rays, some electro-therapy, and a re-alignment they sent me on my way with orders to do no heavy lifting until after I come back on Friday for a check up. The doctor told me that it WILL hurt and probably pretty bad. I must keep ice on it for twenty minutes every hour. It isn't helping much but I am doing it.

Shelby is here at the house helping me. She's got me tons of pillows, blankets, the remote control to the television, a glass of iced tea and most importantly my blackberry. :) What a doll she is. My in-laws have the younger two and will probably keep them for the night as I am sure that I will not be able to care for Emily and she will certainly want her mommy if she's here. I am still holding out hope that by tomorrow I will be all better since I am expecting my best friend who is in from Maryland for a quick visit. Becca, I hope that you're not too disappointed if all we do is hang out here at the house.

Please send good thoughts my way for a speedy recovery and good thoughts to my husband so that he'll manage to have the strength to put up with me for the next couple of days!

New Gadgets

Shelby has spent the summer helping me at the office with Emily and other various tasks as well as at home. She has been saving her money and had a deal with her father. Once she had enough money for half he would pay for the other half of a Nintendo DS (a hand held gaming system). Yesterday, the two of them went shopping and came home with a new DS. It's pink!! They didn't think about it not having a game, so Brien chipped in to buy a game and told her she had to pay him back for half of it. She was super excited when she came home with her new gadget that she had worked so hard to earn. She has been wanting one for a couple of years now but I was convinced that she was just too young to take care of it. Since she has worked for and , I believe that this will make her take more responsibility for this pricey gadgetry. At least this is my hope!

I also got a new gadget yesterday. I traded my Motorola Razr for a Blackberry, also fondly known as a "crackberry". So far I'm really loving it. I can Facebook and Twitter from it and I love being able to respond to quick e-mails with it while I'm holding kids and no have to worry about dragging out the lap top.

So, what have you been up to this week?! Inquiring minds want to know.

*Disclaimer: In the picture, Shelby was sick. I think she's got a summer cold. I made her pose with her DS as she pasted on her most fake smile possible!

Ruby Tuesday - Fresh Salsa

Fresh Salsa:

Ingredients:
Tomatoes - peeled and diced
Jalapeno Peppers - diced
Garlic - Freshly diced
Olive Oil
Salt and Pepper

All ingredients are "to taste". But for good measure you can add one medium pepper for about 15 medium sized tomatoes. One large clove of garlic should do the trick and three teaspoons of olive oil. I usually make it the night before an event because that gives all of the ingredients time to mesh together.

Manic Monday - Fountain

This was the fountain in front of The Downtown Aquarium in Dallas, Texas. When I visited my little sister back in May we spent the afternoon here. It was great fun and I got lots of wonderful pictures of just about every under water creature imaginable! One of my favorites was most definitely the seahorse picture along with this fountain. You can find the seahorse here. There were some very cool exhibits designed from metal tiles to wooden planks. It was an adventurous day and I enjoyed every minute of it. You can find more pictures from my visit to Texas on Facebook by clicking here. To visit more Manic Monday participants, click the graphic above.

(Much love to my friends Mo & Eyad. Keep your chins up, fellas...all things come to those who wait! Mwah!)

Camera Critters

This just so happens to be only two of my critters. Oscar the wiener dog had curled up in the chair with Shelby after they got out of bed this morning. They look awfully cozy don't they? I just wish there was enough room for me to join in. Happy Sunday everyone. To see other Camera Critters, click the badge above. To see my past Camera Critters entries, click here.

I shot this photo en route to our annual fireworks display last weekend. The sky was so beautiful after a small rain shower. Some family looked at the photo and commented that it looks as though there is a small cross on top of that building in the sunset. It almost looks like Christ with outstretched arms. What do you think? I do love the colors of this shot as well as the silhouettes of the trees and buildings. I can't wait to see what you come up with this week. Happy Friday, my friends!

Swimming = Sleep, Right?

T
his was the scene Friday afternoon. We spent the day at the lake. We enjoyed some time on our friend's party barge. The kids wore themselves out jumping off the boat into the water and swimming. It was great fun to get away even if for only a day. It was a nice day, just warm enough to enjoy being in the water but not too miserable when you were out. I am so glad that we live close enough to a large body of water to get out and enjoy it when the time permits. The kids had a great time and I must admit that I did as well! Sleep was much needed in our home on Friday night!

The concert experience live and at home, with flames!

On Thursday night, Shelby enjoyed her very first concert thanks to Little Rock Family Living.  Before we went to the show we had some great food prepared on a hibatchi grill by an talented young cook @ Kanpai Japanese Steakhouse.

Up first was the girl band, KSM.  We missed a big part of their show because we were getting T-shirts ($30 - I am not even kidding!!!) for the girls and some sort of glow sticks with Demi's name ($10).

David Archuleta opened for Demi and he did a magnificent job.  You might remember him from American Idol.  He was runner up to David Cook.  That kid sure does have some pipes.  He is a very talented young man.  It was sure nice to see him so humble as well.  He was giggling before the show started because he was giddy with excitement.  He had amazing energy and his songs were young and hip.  He didn't sing about being a pimp, gangsta, or anything he is not.  I like that about him.  He is a kid and he knows it.  He is grounded and I really think that he's got a bright future ahead of him.  I really enjoyed his performance.

Before Demi came out, Shelby and my neice Katie had made friends with some girls sitting near us.  Since the front row was nearly empty, we let them all sit on the front row of the section we were in.  This gave them the freedom to stand and dance.  When we stood at our seats we were tongue lashed by a mother with two boys who could not see.  Unfortunately when we sat down, the teenage girls that were sitting next to us blocked our view as they stood.  The girls were very excited to see Demi Lovato.  She is their favorite Disney star and she put on such a great show.  The girls danced and sang.  They enjoyed themselves thoroughly.  I am so glad that we got to go share the exciting opportunity with them!  Thank you so much Little Rock Family!

Before the show, we all watched Demi Lovato and her B/F/F in the newest Disney Release, Princess Protection Program. This is a movie that the whole family will enjoy. The DVD features the music video staring Demi with co-star Selena Gomez with their hit song, "One in the Same".   One of my favorite Demi Lovato songs is also the premisis of this movie, "When Two Different Worlds Collide".  I feel this movie will follow a similar path as the High School Musical Phenomena that also spun from the masterminds at Disney.  Selena and Demi are what's hot right now with the "tween" population, and as demonstrated by my daughter and my neice, even younger.  It is nice to see these girls presenting themselves as good role models for my daughter.

Speaking of good role models, The Jonas Brothers are right up there at the top of my list.  I saw these guys on Larry King and they are very intelligent young men.  I remember the crush I had on a certain "Joey Joe" from a little band some of you might remember called New Kids on The Block.  As I watched this DVD, I was taken back to 5th grade when NKOTB came to Arkansas and EVERYONE in my class (or though it seemed) went to this show but me.  I was devastated, but it was short lived, I'm sure.  This DVD, The Jonas Brothers:  The Concert Experience is just like being at the Jonas Brother's Concert, only you get an all access backstage pass at what the guys are doing off stage as well.  If you have a Blue Ray disk player, you're in luck, because the set comes with DVD glasses and you can enjoy the concert in 3-D from the comforts of your own non-crowded home!  If you've got a "Jo-Bro" fan in your household, this is a must have!!!

I've Created a Monster!!!

Last Thursday Shelby and I went with my Mother-In-Law to do some shopping in North Little Rock (about 45 miles away). We don't get to do this kind of shopping often. It's a treat to go to the mall. We live in a small town with very limited shopping centers. We have a JC Penney, Bath and Body, and a few clothing shops but mostly we shop at Wal-Mart just because that's really all there is. The closest Target is in NLR (about an hour's drive). There are lots of Mexican restaurants, pizza joints, doctor's offices, probably even a mesothelioma clinic, just not a big mall.

Shelby loved being at the mall. She has not been in a long time and she proudly procclaimed as we left that "The mall is WAY more fun than Wal-Mart".

Every day since our venture she's asked if we were going to the mall today. So, what do you think? I believe that I might have created a monster, a shopping monster that is!

12 Rounds & Betrayed

Now available on DVD from MGM Home Entertainment: The Betrayed, starring Melissa George, Christian Campbell, Oded Fehr. If you've not seen this one, you're missing out! This is a great suspense thriller. Any mother will sit on the edge of her seat while watching this one. The decisions that Jamie Taylor has to make in this movie are gripping and will make you wonder yourself if what you would do if you were held captive and told you were to kill your husband in order to sacrifice your son's life. That is just what happens to her and as the events of this movie unfold, you will move closer and closer to the edge of your seat. Believe me, you'll be glad you watched this one!!

Also available from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment: 12 Rounds starring WWE Superstar Jon Cena as a New Orleans police officer. When Cena's character, Fisher stumbles upon a million dollar heist gone bad, he takes down a notorious Irish arms dealer. In the process, the bad guy's girlfriend gets killed. He vows revenge against the cop. When he is released from prison, 12 rounds of hell begin for Fisher who's wife is kidnapped by the notorious criminal. Fisher is put through a series of mental and physical challenges in order to proceed to the next round. If he makes it through all 12 rounds safely, he will be reunited with his kidnapped sweet heart. This is a good action movie. Jon Cena is great eye candy if nothing else. Unfortunately, it was a bit predictable to me, but there were some great action scenes including an exploding house. The DVD includes, the making of featurettes, deleted scenes, and the ever popular gag reel. Grab it today, from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment! All in all it's an entertaining event.
