The weather last Sunday was beautiful. We took the opportunity to spend time with the kids by riding horses. In this photo, Shelby and I are riding "Blackie". Shelby was a bit warm from wearing a borrowed baseball cap to keep the sun out of her face. She'd taken it off and it was flopping in the wind as we rode. The skies were beautiful. I remembed mentioning to my husband as we rode and admired the beautiful countryside around us that there are many people in this world who never get to see such wonders. We're lucky indeed!! It made me want to hop park an rv right there and never leave.

Ice Skating Birthday Girl on Horseback (or something like that)

Yes, I am still alive. Mickey Mouse didn't kidnap me this weekend @ Disney on Ice. We survived, although I have decided that I should buy the Disney on Ice memorabilia at wholesale prices for my kids by the truck load. I think I could do this and still come out cheaper than I did buying a few things at the show! I did not get to meet up with a fellow blogger. Although she and I had seats fairly close to one another, we never did see each other. It was a crowded place, and we got there right at showtime so we had no time for mingling. I'm sad about it. But, maybe the opportunity will arise that we can meet up again soon. We do live in the same state, so surely it'll happen!!! I took LOTS of photos and I am uploading them to Facebook. As always you can click the photo to take you to the album and see the rest of the pictures (if you haven't seen them already).

After Disney on Ice Saturday, we went to the birthday party for my photogenic niece, Haven. She turned 4 last weekend. We had a fun time with her and the rest of her family. She reminds me so much of my little sister at that age. She's a cutie and the things she says just crack me up. She got upset with her younger brother because he blew the candles out on her cake. After she slapped him she proclaimed that we had to re-sing the birthday song so that she could blow her candles out again. *LOL* She is too funny. I am also putting pictures from her party on Facebook as well. Are you seeing a trend here?

Sunday we had a wonderful afternoon riding horses! Shelby and I rode together on "Blackie" while Tyler rode with his Papaw (my father in law) on "Sierra". Hubby rode on "Delilah". The weather was great. The wind was just enough to keep us cool. We saw turkey and deer while on the trail. I managed to bring home a bit of a sunburn as well. I didn't even think about wearing any sunscreen. I'm not in the sun as much as my children so I got red, but thank goodness they didn't. Shelby is big enough that she can't ride in the saddle with us, but inexperienced enough that we won't let her ride alone. She rode in the "buddy saddle" behind me. I think she had the most comfortable ride in the house!

It looks like I'm taking a drive to Texas this weekend to see some family who I've not seen in a long time. I'm a bit excited and nervous as well. I will set LATSOF to auto post, so be sure to play along and visit one another. I'll try to stop by and see your skies when I get in Sunday or Monday morning. My apologies to Mo for not playing in this week's Manic Monday and to Mary for not posting a Ruby Tuesday photo. It's been a busy week getting prepared for the trip. I hope you all have a beautiful week.

Clicking on the photos in the post will take you to my Facebook page to see the rest in the set.

Camera Critters

"I'm ready for my close up Ms. CrAzY Mom"

Sunday Morning Conversation

This morning, I was sleeping very peacefully when suddenly I was awakened by a tiny finger nudging me in the side.  I rolled to the right where my 3 year old was standing with a dismayed look upon his face.  I let out a sigh as he began to have conversation with his very sleepy, uninterested mommy (that's me):

Tyler:  Mommy, there is something in my nose.

Me:  Okay, son.  It'll be okay.

Tyler:  No, mommy it's something very big I can feel it.

Me:  Oh, okay son.  It'll be okay.

Tyler:  It is a very big booger.  I can feel it.  I think I need you to get it out for me.

Me:  Okay son, but this will first require coffee!

Yup, tha'ts how a Mommy starts off her day...coffee and boogers.  Who needs Special K or Cheerios, I ask?  Too bad my son is too young to worry about the fact that he has no medical life insurance 'cause his Mommy was not thrilled to be awakened so early.

Two weeks ago, I featured Tyler watching the sun set. This week Shelby is looking at the beautiful blue sky filled with fluffy white clouds. It's been beautiful weather here this week. We're getting a break from the rain we have been having. The weather is getting me geared up for warm weather fun like swimming in the swimming pool, camping, fishing, or maybe even Outer Banks rentals if it weren't so far. This weekend is fun at Disney on Ice! We're all super excited. What are your weekend plans!?

Ruby Tuesday - Tyler's Fall From Grace

I've really found myself obsessed with taking pictures since I got my new zoom lens for My Canon Rebel. Today I got a bit creative taking advantage of the beautifully blue sky with a different perspective. As I was shooting the sky, I came across a bumble bee making his way from one flower to another. I got a few shots of him 'till he decided he didn't want me getting too close to him. I'll find a place to put him some time soon. Maybe I'll upload them to Flickr. As for the sky photos, you can come back on Friday to see them. I also got some cute pictures of Tyler moving mud puddles in the driveway. Yup, you heard me right. This creative little fella was filling his metal dump truck with a mud puddle and relocating it. I got some great shots. I'll feature it later on as well. Those puddles should be dried up in the next day or so. We've got a dry forecast all week. Thank goodness. I have the rain packed up in shipping boxes. Where do I need to send it?! Any takers?   The photo I'm featuring today is of my 3 year old son, Tyler who found himself brave enough to cross the monkey bars.   Unfortunately, he was unable to make it to the other side and hubby nor I reached him in time.  He fell face first into the pea gravel below.  He had some battle wounds on his face, but he's tough.  So, he still managed to smile for the camera afterward.

Saturday Photo Hunt - Purple

My 84th
This Week's Theme: Purple
This is my little Emily. She is 7.5 months old. Time sure flies. The quilt that she is laying on was made with love by hubby's grandmother before she passed away. My mother-in-law found them years after her passing with the grand kid's names stitched on them so hubby received his as a Christmas gift from his grandmother after her passing. It is very colorful, as you can tell. Emily loves it. I only wish that her great-grandma was able to see her enjoy it!

Photo Contest at writefromkaren.com
This photo was taken last Sunday and it is one of my favorites from the day. This is my niece, Haven who is celebrating her fourth birthday today. I think that it represents our Spring so well. The rain drops are falling around her head, but not breaking her spirit. In fact the entire time she was in search of eggs, she had her tongue stuck out catching rain drops. We hid and hunted Easter eggs in the rain. The kiddos declared this Easter "The Best" Easter ever. To see more photos from our rainy Easter, you can click the picture of the birthday girl. To enter Karen's Spring photo contest, click the graphic above. Good luck to all who play and many thanks to Karen for hosting.

UPDATED (11:40 AM 4-17):
Since so many of you asked in the comments about the orgin of this photo, I thought I would post an update. I got this shot a couple of days ago out in my front yard while the kiddos were playing outside. I live in central Arkansas, so there were no shuttles launching around me (that I am aware of). I assume it is just an air plane. I was standing on the ground when I shot it with my Canon AF 70-300MM Zoom Lens. There you have it. That's that!

Conversations with Shelby

Shelby (to her dad):  Whoa, don't go in the bathroom for a while.  It stinks in there.

Brien:  Why does it stink in there.

Shelby:  You'd better be glad you don't do my laundry!

Brien:  Why is that?!

Shelby:  'Cause I've got some serious diarrhea and if you had to wash my clothes, you'd know that!

Me:  *Groan*  I do your laundry!

Shelby:  *Giggles*  I know.  You'll find out what I'm talking about.

Your Mother's Calling

If you call someone after 10pm, it's probably a good idea to make sure you're dialing the right number.  It is equally important if you are calling someone, like your daughter for instance to tell them that you are in the hospital. My phone rang at 10:15 and a lady who claimed to be my mother said she was in the hospital.  I was confused a bit because it didn't sound like my mom, but she was calling from the hospital number and she said it wasn't a joke, she was my mom.  Finally she paused and said, "Angela?"  I was relieved and then a bit perterbed.  I hope that her next attempt to reach her daughter was a success.

Disney on Ice Promotion

Next weekend, my family and I are going to see Disney on Ice in Little Rock, Arkansas! We are all very excited. We usually go to every Disney on Ice event that comes to town because they are so much fun and great entertainment for the kids. It can be quite expensive for a family of four by the time it is all said and done, but usually we only go a few times a year so it's well worth it.

If you live in the Little Rock or surrounding areas, or are planning on visiting April 23 - 26th tickets are now available through all ticketmaster locations! If you would like to go on the magical journey with Mickey, Minnie, and all of their Disney pals I can save you some money! If you use the special code MOM when ordering your tickets through ticketmaster you can get four tickets for $40. That's an astonishing $10 a ticket. Keep in mind that the normal ticketmaster, convenience, and facility charges will still apply. If you are planning on going and do use this promotion, please let me know. My family will be there on Saturday and I'd love to say hi!

Ruby Tuesday - The Buzz

I put up a hummingbird feeder Saturday. So far I've seen two different hummingbirds stop by for a drink. Since I was preggers last year I didn't put forth the time or energy to put one up, so it may take them a while to come around. I have decided that I could sit for hours out there with my Canon in firing position waiting for the "perfect shot". It's not easy to get a perfect shot of those little devils either. They are quite fast. These are a few of the early shots, hopefully with a little more experience I will be shooting them with a little more ease. If you would like to see more wonderful Ruby Tuesday photography, click the badge below the collage to take you to Ms Mary, our wonderful host. I think you'll like what you see! Now, I'm off to change some light bulbs. Why in the world is it that when one goes out, they all do?! I changed one in the kitchen yesterday and now the other is out. Grrrrr...

Manic Monday - Taste

Taste

On each child's first Easter, it has become tradition that they get to eat a chocolate bunny. It just so happens that this would be their first taste of chocolate. The tradition continued this year with baby Emily. This year the tradition was bitter sweet so to speak because it will be the last year that one of my babies has their first chocolate bunny. So, without further adieu let's have a taste, shall we?!
Shelby tastes her first chocolate bunny back in 2003.

Tyler was a man after my own heart when he started ears first back in 2006.

(The ears are my favorite!)

My baby Emily enjoying her first bunny this year!

By the way, it did rain on us most of the day Easter Sunday. This didn't slow us down, however. We hid and hunted eggs in the rain. I am uploading photos and I will post about it later on today. I hope everyone had a beautiful Easter.

DVD Review - Tigger, Pooh, & A Musical Too

Rabbit:  Can anyone around here follow rules?

Tigger:  No offense long ears, but your fules aren't very fun to follow, if you follow me!

I feel like Rabbit so much of the time!!!  The poor guy is just trying to keep some order and peace in the hundred acre wood.  After he tries with no success to govern the hundred acre wood, he decides to draw a line right down the center and let Tigger be the mayor of the other side who declares the first rule to be "Anyone can bounce anywhere and anytime"!  Poor Piglet ends up getting his house split right through the center.  "Oh, Ddddear!"  The adventure is only beginning with the splitting of the hundred acre wood.  The DVD is packed with wonderful songs and teaches a wonderful message about family and friendship.  My kids loved this one, and I didn't mind sitting down with them and watching it either.  Disney has outdone themselves again!  Here is a clip of my favorite song:  Just a warning, though it will get stuck in your head and you will find yourself humming it later on.  Don't blame me, I warned ya.  For more information on this Disney DVD, click the box art above. Our Easter Forecast

It looks like Arkansas weather might make us wish were were on one of those Orlando vacations tomorrow instead of trying to hunt eggs in our front yard. *sigh* The eggs are colored, and I suppose of the weather doesn't cooperate we can always hide them in the house, right? That will be fun with 13 kids, right?! Today was a beautiful day. I'm starting to regret the fact that I didn't reschedule tomorrow's events for today. Maybe the storm will wait until after the egg hunt?! (Please!)

Easter 2009

Click the collage to see the rest of egg coloring fun! Tomorrow we're making cookies! Wish me luck. I might have to look into finding a magic diet pill by the time the weekend is over. I am down 13 pounds as of today. Hubby is down 11 total. We splurged tonight and had pizza. It was good. End of story. The kiddos had a wonderful time tonight and didn't make too much of a mess with the dye. They all three have some stains, but they'll wear off by the end of the day tomorrow, I'm sure. I hope you all have a beautifully blessed weekend!

DVD Review

WOW!  That's a brilliant word to describe this movie.  Set during World War II, the story is seen through the eyes of an 8 year old boy, Bruno whose father is the commander of a nearby concentration camp.  A story of a forbidden friendship between two children who are divided by war.  I loved how the innocence of children shines through in this movie.  Children only learn what they are taught, and when Bruno is taught that he is supposed to despise Jews, he is confused when he finds out that his new friend at "the farm" behind the fence, Shmuel is Jewish it confuses him even further.  This is a powerful, heart wrenching movie that I would highly recommend.  You'll finish this one with a new sense of respect for the innocence of a child.  We can learn a lot from them!

Happy Go Lucky is about an over the top, happy optimist named Poppy. She has to be the most bright, sunny characters that have even been presented in a film. Poppy was not my favorite character because she is at the opposite end of the spectrum from my character. I found the driving instructor to be rather funny, myself. For, I truly believe that he would probably be the most real life-like character. If you haven't seen this one, I don't know that I would recommend it to you. I really couldn't wait for it to be over. It's just not my cup of tea. Happy Go Lucky was a little bit out of the realm of reality, in my opinion.  It had a few moments, but overall I'd say that I wouldn't want to watch it again.  On  a side note, I did think that Sally Hawkins, the actress who played Poppy reminded me a bit of Sandra Bullock.

Oscar Takes Over Mom's Blog

Hey everyone!  This is your friendly neighborhood wiener dog, Oscar here coming to ya from this thing that always sits in Mommy's lap.  Mom is too busy and tired to write, so she gave me the task.  She wanted me to tell you about the latest happenings at the CrAzY Working Mom household.  Shelby lost her third tooth today.  Well, she didn't lose it, so I don't know why they call it that.  It's wrapped in a paper towel under her pillow.  I got in trouble for trying to sniff it out earlier.  I thought I was the only one in this house that hid things.  It was her third tooth, but one of the all important front teeth.  She sounds very funny when she calls my name now.  I hope she will not be like this forever!  They say that some fairy will come to our room tonight and take her tooth and leave her something under her pillow...NOT on my watch!  I won't let anyone in her room.  Grrrrr...

Tyler and Emily are not in good moods.  They have pink eyes.  I don't know what that means, but mom had to hold them down and put some stuff in their eyes.  They both cried when she did it and I don't like it when they cry!  Tyler loves his baby sister and Mom said that she thinks that Tyler loved her a little bit too much last night and that he must have brought her a pink eye home from his pre-school.  I don't know why this didn't make Mom happy.  A lot of things that Tyler does to baby Emily makes Mom unhappy, though.

We are going to have a lot of company over on Sunday for Easter.  I think Easter is where I get to find eggs in the yard and eat them before the kids do.  The man on the big magic box is saying that it is going to rain on Sunday so Mom thinks that we might need to find eggs on Saturday instead.  This didn't make Mom very happy either.

Tomorrow Mom is going to go have her pedi's cured.  I think that's what she told me.  She said that this will make her happy!  She can't wear flip flops yet because she hasn't had her pedi's cured.  I sure hope that getting her feet cured will make her happy and she'll be in a better mood when she comes home tomorrow.

The kids are watching the magic box...
This is the same thing they watched yesterday, and the day before. Maybe I'll go see what Mom is doing in the kitchen. Something smells good in there. I wonder if she'll drop some?  Mom will be back for LATSOF, so don't worry.  Oh, and she also said that I had to say something about lingerie camisoles. I don't even know what they are. But, I bet they'd be fun to chew on. Thanks for reading.  Woof, Woof!
