My Worst Fear Confirmed!

I feel the terror screaming inside. My palms are sweaty. I feel my heart pounding. I can't control it and I don't know why. I have to be in control. I need to be in control. Why is this happening to me?! What have I done to cause this? I am beginning to panic. "Calm down" I tell myself. I cannot let them see me out of control like this. I cannot allow them to fear what I fear. It is just not right. When is it going to end? Is it almost time....

"BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP"

I slap the snooze button on my alarm clock and stare at the ceiling drenched in sweat. I had the dream again, I exclaimed. I swung my legs over the edge of the bed and tried to shake off the fear that was clinging to my body just like the sweat. I made my way to the coffee pot, and began the brew. I filled two sippie cups with milk and one bottle with formula. As the coffee brewed, I made my way to a warm bath and began contemplating this recurring dream. I have dreamed it for as long as I can remember, possibly since the first day I drove.

The bath helped to clear my head and I shook off the fear as I made my way to the coffee pot. The rest of the morning was a hurried rush just as it is every day, a bit of orderly chaos I like to call it. I rounded up the kiddos and we headed to the truck. They were safely buckled in their seats and I began to back out of the drive way.

As I pressed my breaks, they went to the floor. THIS was not a dream. I was awake. My children were with me, I had no breaks in my truck. My worst nightmare was coming true, right here and right now! I shook my head, and began to push the gas again thinking I was just imagining my worst fear coming true. Right before my eyes, I realized that it was not my imagination. Something was terribly wrong. I tried to keep my fear under wraps as I grabbed my cell phone and began to dial my husband's phone. He answered and I calmly told him that something was wrong with my truck. I had to press my breaks all the way to the floor to get it to stop. Even then there was a little bit of hesitation and was not completely stopping it.

He was only five minutes away. I drove to him and left my truck at his office while I took the kids to school in his truck. When I got back, he drove my truck to the shop where the mechanic informed us that he would fix the breaks. On the way back to the office, my husband said to me,
"You weren't kidding when you said you didn't have any breaks were you?!"
Ummm...no, I don't think that is something I would kid about!!!
$892 later, I have breaks and a bunch of other new stuff I couldn't tell you anything about. But, something had caused all of my break fluid to leak out so that is why I had no breaks. My worst fear came true yesterday. I stared fear in the face. I hope to never do it again!

I'm not a virgin anymore thanks to Kris Allen

I have been a fan of American Idol since Kelly Clarkson was crowned queen of the first season. I love Simon's honesty. Most of the time what he says I was thinking, I would just never have the guts to tell them! Paula...well, she's just Paula, right?! We can never understand what she is thinking and she would never be as brutally honest as Simon. She always finds something good to say about the performers. Randy is "muh - dawg"! Kara, well I don't care too much for her but that's a whole 'nother blog post.

I watched tonight and did something that I have never done in any season before. I voted!!! That's right, my friends I am not longer a voting virgin! Tonight was a rough night for most of the performers, but I felt that one performance stood out above the rest. Arkansas native Kris Allen started off a bit rocky but he finished off amazing! I love this guy. He's awesome and I sure hope to see him make it into the TOP 12! He is a very talented young man! I've also joined his facebook group. Since he is a local, I hope to be able to see him perform but I'm sure that tickets won't be cheap after his new found fame! Good luck Kris. I'm pulling for you even after American Idol. You're totally "Kick Awesome"!!!

CrAzY Working Mom offers you free dinner!

I've been seeing the commercials for a while now, you know the ones I'm talking about don't you?! The hungry patrons are gathered in a restaurant and they're served some amazing pasta. The cameras pan around the table while they indulge in the pasta and rave about how great it tastes. Then comes the big reveal. They are going to meet the chef. We suddenly see a line of Pizza Hut employees emerge from the kitchen carrying boxes of cheesy, Italian goodness.

Pizza Hut now offers their Tuscani Pastas in four different flavors: Meaty Marinara, Creamy Chicken Alfredo, Premium Bacon Mac 'N Cheese, and the newest flavor is Tuscani Lasagna. We had the pleasure of trying the Lasagna for dinner tonight. The Italian-inspired Lasagna features lasagna noodles, real ricotta, Parmesan and Romano cheeses, and a hearty Italian-seasoned meat sauce.
Three pounds of lasagna and five bread sticks later I have a happy, stuffed family all for only $14.99! As a working mother of three children I was thrilled to give this a try. We enjoyed the lasagna and after dinner, I snapped a photo of Shelby as she was eating the lasagna right out of the pan! Whether or not you're on the go looking for a delicious, quick meal or you just don't want to cook tonight, Pizza Hut's Tuscani Pastas are an amazing choice!

If you haven't tried Pizza Hut's new Tuscani Pasta, would you like to try one on me?! That's right, you can feed your family this delicious Italian goodness for free?! Here's how:
Leave a comment with your name and make sure that I can get in touch with you via your blog profile, or e-mail. If I cannot contact you, I can't get you the prize (a Pizza Hut gift card).
For extra entries, you can tweet a link to this post on twitter, add it to facebook, or post it on your blog. This contest will close at midnight Friday, February 27, 2009. Good luck to you all!

Ruby Tuesday - A Letter To The Postman

Dear Mr Postman,

I received a piece of mail today, three days later than I had expected it. You probably knew that, though didn't you?! I have a sneaky suspicion that you might have kept it in your mail truck over the weekend to entertain yourself. You see, I subscribed to Netflix because I love the convenience of getting online, clicking on the movies I would love to enjoy, and then waiting for you to deliver them to me. I was expecting two movies to arrive in my box last week, instead only one arrived and sat all alone on the tv stand and the other...well, it arrived just a bit late. Mr Postman, I hope that my popcorn of the month arrives next week in a timely manner and unpopped as I like to indulge in popcorn while I enjoy a good movie.

Next time if you would like to take home my mail for the weekend, feel free to grab a bill or hubby's Cabella's Magazine. I won't tell him what happened to it, I promise.

Thank you for your dedication (ya know the rain, sleet, or snow thing),
Your friendly neighborhood Netflix Customer

Yes, I shaved my legs for this!!!

I would like to thank the academy Sanni for accepting my bribe to get in on the biggest awards in the bloggosphere. I have shined up my red high heels and dawned my slinky red dress. My boobs are taped, my legs are shaved, and every hair is exactly in place in her honor.

I've been given a Bl-Oscar for Achievement in Photographic Memeing for Looking @ The Sky on Friday. As it turns out, enough people have been rejected by a certain other meme or appalled by the fact that others have that they jumped on board with this meme. I am so excited about this award as well as all of the support that I have received from my fellow sky photographers. I hope that we can keep this thing going for a long time to come!

Thank you Sanni for thinking of us - all of the sky watchers for this award. It truly means a lot. I'm going to add it to the info page for Looking @ The Sky on Friday as well as my sidebar.

Manic Monday - Fire

The Manic Monday Master
A Couple of weekends ago we took the kiddos to Cave City, Arkansas where hubby has his deer camp. When we got there, we (well, mainly hubby) built a campfire so that we could roast marshmallows and wieners. I thought it was the perfect time to grab the Canon and play around a bit. I've not ventured much from the automatic settings on it because I am by no means an advanced photographer. I knew that sitting around a fire at night was probably a tricky shot for anyone but I thought it would be fun to try. I played with many different settings. One of my shots came out looking like this:
It's kind of creepy to look at. But, I assure you that the children were in no way harmed in the making of this photo. You can see in the next shot that they were indeed fine and that they enjoyed the campfire while roasting wieners!

There's no need to send them self defense products, I promise, they made it through the fire unscathed!

Camera Critters - "Streeeeeeetch"

I've spent the biggest part of the day sifting through baby clothes. I put away two big trash bags full of clothes that Emily can no longer wear (many of which she NEVER wore). I finally sat down to unwind a bit and visit some Camera Critters. Imagine my surprise when I realized that my post had only been saved to a draft and NOT set to auto publish. *sigh*

Without further adu, I give you my Camera Critters photo:
We visited the Memphis zoo last summer on what I believe to be the hottest day of the year. This guy decided to quench his thirst and I was lucky enough to capture a shot as he did. Can you imagine having to spread your legs so wide to take a drink?! It would be like being on one of those car lifts or something!

DVD Review - High School Musical 3

Which High School Musical 3 cutie gave her co-star a black eye? Who sweated through three prom dresses? Which HSM fella fell over the most on camera? The shameful secrets are all on the newly released HSM 3 on DVD. The DVD not only includes these and more blooper scenes, but also deleted scenes and a sing along.

Shelby and I had a girl's night out with my sister and her daughter the weekend that this movie hit the theaters. We'd watched the other two movies when they debuted on the Disney channel but this was the first movie to hit the big screen. What a brilliant marketing plan on Disney's part! It was fun going to see this movie with my daughter because she is SUCH a HSM fan (remember she was Sharpay for Halloween. We've seen HSM on ice and live on stage!!!

The third installment picks up where HSM 2 left off. Troy, Gabriella, and all of their friends are not only planning their senior prom, graduation, and Spring "Musicale" but they're planning out their lives after high school. Where are they going to go to college? Will Troy go to a college on a basketball scholarship or will he go to the Julliard school of arts? Old friendships and relationships will be tested and new ones formed as three new cast members are introduced. I suspect that there will be a new cast of HSM stars in the near future with the new characters including the very funny "Rocketman".

The soundtrack in this movie is phenomenal. It snagged Billboard's Top honors for Soundtrack of the year. We bought the soundtrack as soon as it was available. It's on my ipod and we listen to it in the truck just about every day. Yup, I can sing just like Gabriella. Well, at least I know all of the words to her songs. My favorites are "Can I Have This Dance" and "I want it all."

This is a high energy movie with awesome new songs and fantastic dance numbers. If you enjoyed the first two, I guarantee you'll like this one! For more information on this movie, click here to go straight to the movie site.

Conversations with Shelby

Today as I drove Shelby home from school we talked about her "sight words". These are words that her teacher expects her to know. In other words, she should be able to see them on a flash card and recite them without having to s-o-u-n-d them out.
Examples: a, I, the, and, was, you, him,

She was going over some sight words that she'd missed on her last test. One particular word was the number two. This type of word is difficult for her. She began to sound the word out.

Tuh-Wuh-Ah...TuWuAh...TWAT!!!

I did the best I could to contain my laughter. I thought I might have to invest in some self defense products when I saw the expression on her face. She thought I was making fun of her. It was a hard sell to convince her otherwise without explaining to her exactly what I was laughing at.

Firey Sky
I stepped out to let Oscar, the wiener dog out a few nights ago and was mesmerized at this amazing sky! I quickly grabbed my camera realizing that I did not want to let an opportunity like this pass me by. I took several shots of this beautiful sunset. I loved that the clouds added the extra depth and color to the shot. There are also some beautiful rays visible on the left side of the photo. I snapped a few shots and then enjoyed watching the sun disappear on my outdoor furniture swing.

Thank you so much to all who are playing along. This meme has really turned out to be way more successful than I had anticipated. I appreciate all of your support!

Improv

In my plea yesterday for a good place to get some cute head wraps for my bald follicle challenged 5 month old daughter, I looked around a bit in the stock pile of hair accessories that we have collected over the years for her older sister. I found some head wraps that we'd bought for Shelby last summer. With a little bit of experimenting, I realized that some of the alligator style clips can be attached to these bands and look pretty cute. This morning I came across this pink pony tail holder. I just wrapped it around the band and made a cute little "crown" for Emily, "Princess of the Little People".

She didn't seem to mind it. I let her look at herself in the mirror. She loves to play with that little baby and give her kisses. Who could resist this face?! Now if we could only turn her kisses into a fat burner I'd be perfectly content!

American Idol

Does anyone else see the resemblance between American Idol Top 12 finalist Danny Gokey and actor Robert Downey Jr?! It's absolutely uncanny. Joining Gokey in the first three of the top twelve for American Idol Season 8 are Alexis Grace, and Michael Sarver.   It's going to be a long three weeks whittling down the top 12.

The Bald and the Beautiful

I'm looking for some cute bows/headwraps for my little one.  She's five months old...and almost bald!  I want to get her some cute headbands, but the ones you buy in the stores leave marks around her head and I know that can't be comfortable.  I have been searching and have found many stores online.  I was thinking that there are a lot of my readers who have Etsy stores, and I would rather support someone who is making their things by hand than to buy from a large company.  I am really interested in the interchangeable infant headbands (or headwraps).  Shelby (my 6 year old) has lots of alligator clip style bows that would clip on those, so it would be a bit easier than trying to stock up on a lot of different kinds of bows.  There are so many to choose from, I am at a loss for where to begin.  Any Mom readers who can recommend?  Are there any dealers out there who would like to solicit my business?  I am also willing to do reviews in exchange for products?

Motherhood

The difference in raising

boys versus girls:

A Dry Toilet Seat!

Is She Calling China?

Little Emily, my five month old just recovered from RSV, a very serious respiratory illness. She's been better and then over the weekend she took a down turn again. She has been coughing horribly. The thing about this little girl is that it's hard to tell when she's sick because she is such a happy baby, sick nor not. The cough worsened, and the rattling in her chest sounded like an old Chevy pick up truck. I took her in today and the doc said that she now has bronchitis and an ear infection! We're on antibiotics for the ear and re-visiting the dreadful "puffer" (inhaler) and yummy cough medicine. The good news is this should disappear quickly whereas the RSV hung around for several weeks. Until then, Emily is making calls to tell everyone she's okay. At least I hope that she is. How much does a call to China cost, probably not as much as a Mesothelioma lawyer?

Support

I need some tech support. As you can tell from the post above I purchased a domain name through blogger (from Go Daddy dot com). To my understanding, it was supposed to be an easy transition that would automatically update my settings and my blog traffic would be re-directed to my new domain name. It could take up to two days for a re-direct to take place, meaning that when you type in my blogger address: tishblack.blogspot.com it will re-direct you automatically to my new domain name: www.crazyworkingmom.com. Well, apparently it isn't that easy. I purchased this domain on Friday night and my site still isn't being re-directed! Here is a screen shot of my publishing settings:

When I check the box under Your Domain where is says : Redirect crazyworkingmom.com to www.crazyworkingmom.com I am getting an error: Blogs may not be hosted at naked domains.

It does say underneath - Congratulations, your blog is ready! So, this makes me believe that somewhere in all of this that there is box that has been left unchecked or some minor detail that hasn't been completed.

What do I need to do to get this to re-direct?! If anyone has any knowledge on this or has completed this task previously, please leave me a comment or shoot me an e-mail tishblack @ gmail dot com. Thanks!

**This issue has been resolved. I just didn't give it enough time to re-direct...patience is a virtue, right?!**

Camera Critters

To visit more Camera Critters, click here.
This little guy right here managed to get himself INSIDE my laundry room. I had gone out to put a load of laundry in the dryer. The door was open, so I closed it. I heard some rumbling out there later on, so I opened the door to the laundry room and screamed. He just stood there frozen. I ran to get my camera and then shot his picture. I went outside the house to go around and open up the door from the outside to let him out. I don't know which one of us was more afraid of the other. He went out soon after the door was opened. I had been wondering what happened to the cat food. We were keeping an automatic feeder out back for some stray kittens that had come up. I had to quit using it because the food would disappear faster than I knew those kittens were eating it. Do you think that I found my culprit!?!? For those of you who do not know this is an opossum.

Valentine's Day Link Love

Since today is a day of love, I'm showing some link love for those of you in my link list (located on the left hand sidebar). If you are NOT in my link love list and you want to be, just leave me a comment and let me know. If I am in YOUR link list could you kindly redirect my link to http://www.crazyworkingmom.com? Thank you so very much! I spent much of the day adding these links to my domain. I was using Blogrolling.com. Their site was hacked at the end of last year and it's still not back up and running. I couldn't add or delete links, so I am no longer using a linking service. I'm doing it the old fashioned way. Better for YOU and me.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Yesterday was my beautiful Kindergartener's Valentine's Day party. We had a fun time celebrating the occasion with her class. There were enough cookies, chips, and treats to make your teeth fall out right before you crashed from your sugar high!!! You can see Shelby going through her Valentines in the photo to the left. There were no wedding invitations, only sweet cards from Spiderman to Tinkerbell.

Before the party, Shelby and her class participated in the 30th anniversary Jump Rope For Heart. I'll tell you one thing, there is nothing quite as comical as watching a gymnasium full of Kindergarteners trying to jump rope! Their method is as follows: quickly slam the rope over your head smashing it on the ground, once it hits the ground, hop over it, repeat with no rhythm. I did not take my video camera, but I wished that I would have because it was quite a interesting.

How are you spending your Valentine's Day? We've made no plans. It's just a typical Saturday around here. I'm watching a movie, blogging, and trying to get caught up on laundry...mostly at the same time. Whatever your plans, I hope that you have a wonderful day.

Don't forget that I have changed my domain name. I am now http://www.crazyworkingmom.com so if you link to me, kindly change it in your sidebar. Thank you!
